Celebrate Mini Album for Social Stamping Blog hop

I created this mini- album as an order for a friend to give to her relative for a graduation but I have never written about it so I thought I would share it in this theme of Celebrations. It uses lots of retired products including Memories and More cards and stamp sets.  The concertina card is a common style of card I make for big occasions and lots of people to sign.  The tin was from a collection of post it notes that I found at Spotlight and purchased from the sale bin - not for the post it notes but for the container! If you hold the ribbon loop and pull it up you get the concertina to open. The base card is glued into the tin....So you have to be a bit creative with book supports etc when you sign the individual pages, but it adds to the fun! Thanks for taking the time to look at my project.  Be sure and hop all the way around the bloghop to see  everyone's great projects for the celebration theme. Thanks again to Kelly for all her hard work organising this mean...

Father's Day meets the Mason Jar punch -The Masterchef version and a few Dad Jokes.

Yesterday I posted the mason jar woodworker's version, today is the BBQ chef version. I've used the fabulous Mason Jar Punch and coordinating Shaker Domes, and paired it with the Gilded Autumn specialty Designer Series Paper. Some (retired) copper washi tape to look like the screw top lid and a colourful mix of spices. I think all Dads think themselves pretty handy in the chef department, so these should be broadly appropriate. I filled the jars with Star Anise, Cardamom Pods, Coriander seeds and Chilli flakes. The handy kebab image is from the recently retired Outdoor BBQ set. After I photographed this card I added the sentiment from Strong and Beautiful which says "You're amazing and that's a fact" I made a few versions of this style using some retired paper ( making room for new things to come....) and another great retired set for Chefs -  Perfect Mix. Our family are partial to word puns and word play jokes so these make me smile- plus they feel like Dad j...

Colour INKspiration #84 - PInks and Greens

Gosh the weeks have flown, and we're back again. And what a fabulous colour combination we have for you this week. Sometimes a big colour palette can be daunting so for this one I broke it down into the individual colours. I have CASEd several cards you will have seen in the catalogue using tone on tone stamping. It's a fabulous way to spotlight the individual colour. We'll be using the "Lovely You" stampset at classes this weekend so I was creating some samples showing its versatility. It's a simple way to create an embellishment panel. I like the look with the ends uneven but you may prefer a square edge. You can also die cut any shape from your finished piece. Check out this gorgeous image. I've always loved working with strips of leftover card or DSP and you can see lots of samples under the label "using paper scraps" or "using up DSP" on this blog. like this one  from 2014! On this sample I added some sparkle by flicking the Wink O...

Father's Day meets the Mason Jar Punch bundle - the woodworker's version

How do you really say thankyou to your Dad? It's a tough one.  But hopefully one of these will bring a smile to my Dad's face.  I have been having lots of fun creating some cards for Father's Day to stock at Our Shop. I did see another card somewhere which sparked the idea for the woodworker's card but I can't find the original to give credit, but I want to thank you for your brilliant idea. I've had lots of fun creating these. I don't know anything about screws, and a real woodworker would probably not put these 2 different types together but I'm OK with the mix! My Dad's workshop did have rows of jars and the lids were all screwed to the underside of a shelf- a space saving tip that he was quite proud of. The Mason Jar Punch and the self adhesive shaker domes makes it so easy This card uses strips of different timber papers adhered to a scrap piece of card like parquetry, then trimmed to a neat rectangle. I also add further dimension by running th...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car...

JAI#518 Thinking of you Acetate Tent Card

It's been a long tine since I played with any challenges but I always come back to Just Add Ink. This week Jan has totally inspired me with her Acetate Tent Card and I just had to CASE her. (sunflowers and all, thankyou Jan) I made both a T hinking of You card,  and a T hankyou card, and I loved the process. The tutorial is at Spilt Coast Stampers here .  But here are the measurements I used for Australia.      Cardstock      14.8 x 21     Score at 4cm, 14.5cm, 17cm and 19.5cm                              14.8 x 1.2cm to emboss for front strip     Acetate            14.8 x 10.2     DSP / shimmer white     14.8 x 10.2   After creating the sunflower card I also opted for one with the DSP inside- but what to decorate it with? I had fun going back to an old set I haven't used for a while. ...
