Showing posts with the label modern Medley DSP

Last of the hexagons for a while!

After attempting to put some multicoloured hexagon cards together I went back to the basics! Modern Medley black and vanilla with one other colour still seems to be my favourite. However I didn't have much DSP in the Lucky Limeade tones so I improvised by stamping the Thoughts and Prayers Tree onto cardstock and Clear Embossing it, this gave just enough "lift" to the  hexagon for a feature tile.  for the Island Indigo feature tiles I did some stamping using one of the flowers from the Best of Flowers set.  We made these at my last card class and I had fun finishing off the leftovers. On a few of them I ran the completed piece through the hexagon embossing folder for a bit more texture. Thanks for looking, Liz

Flip and Folded Case

I am heading away for the weekend so wanted to post before I go. This is a fancy fold project I had fun making recently. I found the directions while on holidays, thanks to Beth Beard for her great you tube clip with instructions. I do love the Modern Medley DSP so found it quite striking to use. This design is quite quick to make, and the best thing is that when you cut the piece of 12x12 DSP to make your card, you automatically have 2 card bases ready to go. My upline and friend Joanne Travis taught me very early on that if you are going to make a card you should always make 2 at the same time. It takes no more time (in fact it saves time) and means that you are more likely to end up having cards on hand after the family raid your stores for their friends!! She was right and I have been glad of her wisdom more than once. The first sample uses Rich Razzleberry and Very Vanilla, and the very adaptable Bloomin' Marvellous set (an oldie but a goodie!) The second samp...

Flower Shop Thinking of You Cards

have been having fun with the Flower Shop Set and matching Pansy Punch. So easy to creat a quick set of cards. I pilled out my brights set of stamps and used Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo. Also used the First Edition DSP - and stamped some Gorgeous Grunge on the background pieces (not very good photography), then some strips of the beautiful Black and Vanilla Modern Medley, and a few sequins or candy dots to finish. I have had the Thinking of You sentiment for a long time but it is currently availalbe as part of the "Wetlands" set. The second set is similar but uses Petite Pairs as the sentiments and the Artisan Label Punch for the label. I love the magazine holder style of card box and often make these as a presentation box for sets of cards. Thanks for looking, Liz

"Pink" birthday gift cards

My friend at work asked me for gift cards to give to 2 of her daughters who are travelling soon to a "Pink" concert and shopping trip for their birthdays. Naturally, I had to use pink so I chose two firm favourites - Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals to partner with the Modern Medley DSP. I was able to use some scrapbooking letters I had in the "useful box" and some long retired " Hodgepodge Hardware " for the decoration on the front. Stamp sets include Curly Cute, Hodgepodge Happiness, Flower Shop and Vintage Verses. I experimented with the gift pocket for the cash and was happy with the closures. I used 2 small sizes of circle punch as well as the artisan label punch. On the front I secured the circles in place with a mini brad. This gave an anchor for the thread to wind around, and on the inside i glued a second circle over the opened brad arms so that the notes wouldn't catch on them. Hope that is clear!? I also used the Window Frames Fra...

Starting Father's Day for 2013

Have been trying to get ahead with some Father's Day cards- this is what we made at the last class. I used the great new set Timeless Talk and stamped the image twice- once in Stazon black and once with Versamark which I heat embossed using the Pewter Powder ( a definite favourite!!) I cut out the gramophone horn and mounted it up slightly with dimensionals. The image fits well into the 21/2" circle punch. I used the clockworks background stamps to lay down a bit of colour on a scrap of Very Vanilla onto which I stamped the sentiment. It needed a bit of a lift so I ran the bottle top through the Bigshot to flatten it out.(Sadly they are now retired, but they were in the Summer Mini last year and I think they are perfect for male cards). I used a few strips of some Modern Medley DSP and layered the black image on a square of Very Vanilla 6cm x6cm. The background card is Tempting Turquoise , and the finishing texture is some jute string (ordinary household grade). The le...

Best of flowers

Just a simple card with no sentiment, using the best of Flowers Set stamped with Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the 1" square punch, layered on the postage stamp Pistachio layers. Each of the images has a tiny bit of highlighting using the Pool Party marker The DSP is Modern Medley and I have scored a frame on the base white card using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and added highlights with strips of Pistachio Cardstock stamped with Pistachio ink and the Hydrangea stamp for a background effect and a decorative strip of Pool Party cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits .  A quick card to create, and quite a soothing colour combination, Thanks for looking, Liz
