Creating Mother's Day cards is always fun- I love making something soft and feminine. I have had a big weekend creating using up bits and pieces from the top of my desk which seem to have been accumulating. It's a good feeling to bring odd pieces together and see where they take you. I had these few poppies left over and I have tried to use them many times before but today they found their home. I adhered the large heart over a square doily and trimmed off the corners.  I was loosely inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #483, and by the colours in the inspiration pic from As You See It challenge #249, although I will confess I thought the pink was softer - I have used Petal Pink and Blushing Bride here - I only realised it was Flirty Flamingo later. I did add some So Saffron ink into the watercolour and it definitely improved the poppies. None the less I am happy with the finished card. time again for some social stamping with a group of wonderfully talented stampers. Thanks to Kelly for organising this each week. Happily we are creating with a "family" theme this week, so of course I have Mother's Day cards to share. Neither my Mum, or my mother-in-law or any of our children (adults) live near us so I do like to make a nice Mother's Day card to send them each year. This year I have been inspired by Lou who has been whipping up a storm with her Bay Window Cards. (you might remember them from Social Stamping last Saturday). I thought they looked fabulous and made some straight away! They are really effective and very easy. Welcome back this week where we are CASEing the Catty to make a project for Mother's Day. I still find beautiful inspiration in the catalogue every time I look through it and wonder why I haven't noticed certain projects in the past. This was the case with this week's card - although I have CASE'd the gift bag on page 47 of the Annual Catalogue - which is nearly at the end of it's time.    I loved the copper embossing on the brown paper bag, the lace, and the watercolored image on the tag. So using those features and the Falling Flowers Stamp set I created a card suitable for Mother's Day. I heat embossed the images with white embossing powder on Shimmer White Cardstock and then coloured each flower of leaf with my aqua painter. I was short on time so didn't attempt masking but rather cut each flower with the coordinating framelits and layered them on the tag. Hello and welcome back for this weeks projects. You can find all the CTC blog participants here Pages 34-36 have some sweet projects made using the fabulous Have a Cuppa set  and matching framelits which I resisted buying initially. This is the project we made for mother's Day at March Class. I have CASED the Wisteria Wonder layout of the card at the right of this picture on page 34. For the Class we made one of these fabulous self closing boxes which holds a little selection of tea bags, and the card coordinates for a sweet little Mother's Day Gift.  The teapot sits on a vellum circle, but I needed to layer a patterned vellum over the Vellum cardstock as it needed the extra firmness to be stable. I used the Circles framelits to cut the ring frame from the Shine On Kraft DSP . - this frame hides the glue dots which hold the 2 layers of vellum together. the cute floral Paper is from the Love Blossoms DSP paper stack.
