Creating Mother's Day cards is always fun- I love making something soft and feminine. I have had a big weekend creating using up bits and pieces from the top of my desk which seem to have been accumulating. It's a good feeling to bring odd pieces together and see where they take you. I had these few poppies left over and I have tried to use them many times before but today they found their home. I adhered the large heart over a square doily and trimmed off the corners.  I was loosely inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #483, and by the colours in the inspiration pic from As You See It challenge #249, although I will confess I thought the pink was softer - I have used Petal Pink and Blushing Bride here - I only realised it was Flirty Flamingo later. I did add some So Saffron ink into the watercolour and it definitely improved the poppies. None the less I am happy with the finished card. Welcome back for the 80th INKspiration colour challenge. Such soft and pretty colours were perfect for creating a 40th Birthday card for a neighbour. I CASEd a technique I saw recently (although I can't find it again now) using the Peaceful Poppies dies and spritqing with water and ink to mould the paper and create a 3D flower. The flower is pink on pink with a purple posy layer as the thinlit on top. The leaves are both pieces of Soft Sea Foam but one is sponged with ink over the cardstock for a deeper layer, and the background is stamped with soft sea foam also before being run through the embossing folder. The glimmer paper is retired as are the big number framelits but they were perfect for the statement for this card. Hello again - back for some more Social Stamping with Kelly, and this week the theme is hearts. It's so nice to share this hobby and stamp with friends from all over the place. A buckle card is an easy fun fold that makes an interesting card. I shared some Honey Bee Samples here, where you will find the measurements and instructions link, but today I have an alternative version using the gorgeous Peaceful Poppies. I watercoloured a whole sheet of the fabulous Fluid 100 watercolour paper using Merry Merlot, Rococo Rose and Petal Pink. Then I heat embossed the poppies in white and cut out a whole sheet of flowers and hearts. Now I can create a stack of cards quite quickly. I hope you get lots of time to be creative too. This week's colour combination is just lovely to play with and after I cut out my full sheet of elements I was able to create a pile of cards. These are a few Wedding cards. Of course it's nice to have a splash of colour on the inside too. I was able to get quite a few elements from my sheet. And finally a card for any occasion. Today I created a Buckle Card inspired by Julie Davison of Julie's Stampin Spot. She has created a very cute nautical card in imperial measurements and I'll attach the link to her great video tutorial, but I wanted to create one for our Australian Metric Measurements. My variation has an embellishment (the beehive) sitting over/hiding the buckle insert slot. It's a super easy but very effective.  The Belt is a strip which is anchored under the strip of DSP and shaped using the side of the Tailored Tag Punch. The slot is created using the Classic Label Punch. It was so much fun to make I created a second version and colour scheme. The fabulous DSP is free with a qualifying purchase until the end of March and the black and white lends itself to some very striking cards. One of the things about papercrafting is that I've met some amazingly talented people. I've been lucky enough to make some beautiful friends and Lou Kitzelman is one of them. Today I have a card CASEd directly from her clever creation. She calls it her "show off your DSP" card. And like her I have limited time in my busy life, so when someone clever shares their designs which save me time I am very grateful. I was lucky enough to receive one of the Christmas ones last year. Here's my few samples. The first uses some gorgeous floral paper from the Best Dressed Suite and allows you to see both the floral and the geometric patterns, and allowed me to have a floral focal point using the fabulous Small Bloom Punch and the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set. Today is Australia Day. I consider myself so blessed to have the luxury of calling myself an Australian citizen and despite the controversy around the date, and acknowledging that we have terrible events in our history,  I cannot think of a more unique and wonderful place to live. It's a harsh and beautiful land, filled with amazing and diverse people.  I hope your day has seen you feeling grateful for where you live. It's been nice to have some time to relax and I was able to complete this card for a few challenges. I had few old sheets of DSP, and I think I've never used them because they were brown and white - so I used my sponge brayer and inked all over them with flirty Flamingo to make pink and brown paper.
