CTC#164 CASEing the gorgeous KITS in the Occasions Catalogue

Welcome back for the Sunday night treat - CASEing the kits section from the catalogue. There are several just gorgeous kits in this catalogue - and so stunning when completed. The best thing about the Lots of Happy Card Kit is that you can purchase the refill kits. Recently for our Stamping Retreat we included one full 1/4 of a refill kit in everyone's goodie bag. They received everything they needed to make one of each of the beautiful card you see in this week's inspiration pic. However, I decided instead this week to CASE the layout of one of the cards on the bottom of page 17. I love the  background stamping using some text,  a little feature element  a coloured card base some matching sponging behind the element to tie the colours together and a sentiment stamped over the background I did get a bit carried away in the end..... not unusual.....and ended up with lots of backgrounds.  So I made them all up. My goal this weekend is to use up all the ...

Hello Friend using Inspire. Create. Share-and a few handy tips for Amazing You.

Hello Beautiful Friend- using the beautiful colour combination from Inspire, Create, Share (and the layout which I've used from Caseing the Catty for #164 from page 17 of the catalogue). What a lovely colour combination. Playing with colour sometimes takes me back to childhood. I still remember being so excited the first time I learnt that mixing primary colours gave you a whole new world of variations. The colour wheel had me fascinated. I still love the surprise of what will happen when you mix different amounts of colour. A few handy tips using this set: I cut the leaves from the flower (a bit tricky but worth it). So now I can stamp the leaves and flower in different colours I inked the leaf section in Daffodil and then added Bermuda Bay using a sponge dauber to only the main leaf stem I inked the sunray in Daffodil and added Bermuda Bay using...

Sponged Mask Embossing Paste Technique

I discovered this technique quite by accident and I have used it exclusively since for colouring the embossing paste I use. There is no waste and no mess, and I don't have lots of little pots of coloured paste which might dry out and be useless. it's a simple technique - those are often the best. use any ask and a sponge and apply one colour of ink over the mask- this can be on your project or on a scrap piece of paper position the section of mask with the ink on it in the position you wish to have the coloured paste on your project take a small amount of paste with a clean palette knife and spread it over the ink coloured mask the paste will become coloured as you spread it - you can move the colour around, and sometimes your finished area will be variegated colours and that's it! Here's a few samples of cards using that technique - I applied the sponging on a scrap piece of paper For this Crushed Curry card the mask had two colours sponged o...
