Painted Petals DSP Concertina Fold SUO#115

The beautiful Painted Petals Designer Series Paper is so lovely and fresh it can easily be the star of the card so I have made a folded card to show off the beautiful patterns. I have made this card in the past and you can find the directions here . The Stampin Up Only challenge is to make a Valentine's Day card but I took the opportunity to make 2-  and one is Valentines and one is a special birthday card. Both sets use the Painted Petals stamp set, and the Butterfly Framelits , the Valentine card also uses the sale a bration set " You brighten my Day " while the birthday card uses Flower Shop and the Pansy Punch, Kinda Eclectic , and the sentiment is from the sale a bration set " Big Day ". Various stampin up embellishments include satin binding ribbon, in colour sequins, pearls, glimmer brad  and bakers twine. Birthday Card is on the left with Gold Butterfly, Valentine's Card is on the right with Silver Butterfly Valentines Love me

Butterfly thinlits so Beautiful to use

The first of my card classes for this year will be next weekend, and after wondering where to start I think a butterfly theme is calling me.  So this is a sample of the type of thing we will be making. 19/02 Edit to post. Well I'm so amazed but this card has been on the Leaderboard on Stampin Connection and was the top sample for a while. I am touched. And after requests for details I am adding those here. The card base is Soft Sky , as is the ring which I cut using 2 different sizes of the Circles Thinlits . The layers of Cardstock are Sahara Sand and Naturals White. I stamped images on the Naturals White  Cardstock first using Soft Sky and Sahara Sand from the Kinda Eclectic set, and also with the Dictionary background stamp. I then ran this piece through the big shot using the Lovely Lace Embossing folde r ( which I love).  Using the butterflies thinlits I cut the lacy butterfly from Sahara Sand and sponged the edges of this using soft sky, (and I think also a

The Card Concept #27- with Painted Petals

Well Im still following challenges to get me back into the creative groove and I have used the Card Concept challenge for this attempt as well as a technique I found on You tube by Deb Valder which she calls the Bullseye Technique. , it makes a really cute fancy fold card with a window. The new Occasions Catalogue has some really lovely stamp sets in it and I have had some fun playing with the Painted Petals set. Primrose petals and Wild Wasabi on Sahara Sand, the inside. The new Sahara Sand lace ties beautifully, the Expressions Thinlits word was cut out in 3 layers of sahara sand and glued together, then finished with Glossy Accents and here's what I did with the leftovers! Thanks for looking, Liz

FMS#170 and Love is Kindness

I love the sketches at Freshly Made Sketches, so after such a long hiatus in crafting over the hot summer it is great to have a sketch as a starting point. The new Paper from Sale-a Bration is Fantastic. The white on white "Irrestistibly Yours " is able to be coloured with any ink using spritzing, sponging or brayering to colour the background, while the gloss design resists the ink to create a background that matches your colour exactly. The six designs include leaves (as shown), stars, spots, stripes, lattice and flowers. This is one of the products you can choose for free with every $90 spent during the Sale-a-Bration promotion which is active until March31. so using the Blackberry Bliss ink I sponged the cardstock in varying degrees and then layered a strip of Cardstock and silver glimmer paper to create the divider for the sketch. I started with a different element but after trying a few options the tulip image from Love is Kindness (is clearly a favourite)

Lotus Blossom Sale-a Bration Set

The beginning of the year is always exciting in the Stampin' Up! World because there are SO many new stamp sets to play with. (It's a bit hard to choose when the wish list includes most of the catalogue!!!) And the added bonus of free sets for every $90 makes Christmas seem to go on for a few extra weeks! The Lotus Blossom set is one of those in the Sale-a-Bration catalogue and it's a lot of fun to play with. The 3 step stamp is easy to use and easy to position since it is  the clear photopolymer type. I have seen several samples where people have used more than one colour but in my early experimentation I quite like using only one colour. Stamp #1 with full strength colour, #2 stamp off once, and #3stamp off twice.  Thanks for looking, if you need a copy of the catalogue just let me know, or if you would like to host a workshop and have a play with some of the new sets I can easily arrange that for you, Or you can shop online at any time, Cheers, Li

New stamps, New Year, and a sketch - FMS 167

Well with the New Year comes the pleasure of new stamps, which are available from tomorrow in the new Occasions Catalogue. I fell in love with the Love is Kindness stamp and it seemed a great image to use with the FMS  sketch 167 Of course I had to decorate the inside too! I love the look of water colouring so I coloured the tulips with the aqua painter.and since tulips have a special meaning in our family it seemed perfect to make a birthday card and set of notecards for my Aunt's 80th birthday. Since it is such a special birthday I added a few extra details. The newspaper is cut out, distressed, and raised with a layer of tissue paper underneath, and I used a silver glitter gel pen to add some sparkle to the bulbs. the matching set of notecards is similar but not as detailed. Tissue paper under newsprint piece adds reality. thanks for looking, Liz
