Simple card layout using scraps - endless possibilites

I was recently inspired by a fellow demo - Vicky Wright from Bundaberg who has kindly been sharing inspiration for 12 days of Christmas. Day 6 was a fabulous simple layout which could be adapted for colour blocking, embossed only panels, patterned or textured pieces, or any combination- the concept is simple and the  possibilities are endless I used some of the Eden's Garden papers to create these Christmas cards for entering  Just Add Ink #582 - Just add Christmas. The measurements are base mat cardstock   7cm x 12cm inner mat cardstock  6.5cm x 11.5cm DSP strips                 3cm x 11cm                                   3cm x 6.5cm                                   3cm x 4.25cm standard card base. Adhere the 3 DSP strips in any arrangement o...

GDP#320 Case the Designer- using Flowers of Home Dies- another sneak peak

The challenge this week at GDP is to Case the Designer Kayla McCreadie. She has a beautiful clean style and this card has a lovely cluster of elements and plenty of texture.  I have been busy creating with a new set coming in January called "Blessings of Home"- the stampset, and "Flowers of Home" - the coordinating dies .You can see more samples loaded in recent days. Included in the dies is a garland of flowers, some small sprays of blossoms and leaves, and some tiny flowers. I watercoloured a few pieces of the Fluid 100 paper  - one in variegated greens and one in pinks and then cut out a whole bunch of pieces which will make card assembly a little faster. I tend to create a little mood board when I do this so that I can be easily inspired. I will have a few more samples coming using other pieces from this little stash. For this card the floral sprays are secured over half a square doily, and the bow and sentiment are positioned over the staple which holds everyth...

Sneak Peak #4 "Blessings from Home"

It was recently the Onstage Stampin' Up! 2 day virtual event- how I miss the energy of gathering together - but it is always good to connect and share ideas and learn. It is 15 years since Stampin Up started in the South Pacific so we all had a little candle to light. I got to do some stamping with a friend and we celebrated together. As part of the event we were able to pre purchase a new set which will be coming in January. It is called  "Blessings of Home"  and has coordinating dies and DSP and ribbon and bling! The dies cut out not only the outline of the 2 floral images but there are several detailed dies which cut smaller floral sprays - so cute. We used the suite during the event to create 3 cards along with everyone else, but I had such a great time colouring the images that I made a few extra cards. In this version I have used the large floral spray stamped onto crumb cake and coloured with watercolour pencils and the Chalk Marker. I have used the same stamped ...

CI#112 Colour INKspiration "Blessings of Home" sneak peak #3

It's another Colour INKspiration challenge and this week's colours are gorgeous together. I love the Inspiration pic and I was hoping to create a gum leaf scene but time has run away from me so instead I am sharing a card I made using a new set coming in the January Mini Catalogue. It's called Blessings of Home and is a set we used at a recent virtual "Onstage" Stampin Up! event for demonstrators. The stamp set comes with coordinating dies, some  beautiful papers which make it so easy to use. Here I have stamped the large floral spray onto Crumb Cake cardstock ( I know- should have been Gray Granite!) and coloured with Watercolour Pencils. It's a subtle and delicate look. I teamed it with the bright striped DSP and softened that with a strip of dry embossed vellum. I did use a stronger green than Mint Macaron, so while not strictly the colours it still follows " "the vibe" of the inspiration pic. We'd love you to do the same and share your c...

Sneak Peak #2 " Blessings of Home" - coming January 202

The dies cut out not only the outline of the 2 floral images but there are several detailed dies which cut smaller floral sprays - so cute. We used the suite during the event to create 3 cards along with everyone else, but I had such a great time colouring the images that I made (quite) a few extra cards. In this version I have used one pattern of the DSP which is from the suite. I stamped in Cinnamon Cider onto Shimmery white Cardstock and coloured the leaves ...

CI#111 Stitched Flowers go Vanilla

Colour INKspriation #111 palette is  some of my favourite colours- Greens and Naturals. There are endless possibilities with these colours but in the end I opted for some stitched flowers in Vanilla with gold accents. I used the shimmer vellum behind the flowers and swiped Craft White ink over the raised surface of my embossed base panel for some added definition. I love the little timber birds in the inspiration pic so added a wee gold bumblebee for my element of wildlife! These embellishments are so sweet. And as you know I love added texture so did some sponging with blending brushes over the ombre paper for my inside panel. It's one of the gorgeous papers in the Eden's Garden collection. Are YOU INKspired to join the challenge? It's so easy. Firstly, get some INKspiration by checking out all of the creations of the Colour INKspiration Crew in the challenge album on our Facebook page .
