CTC#72, CASEing sale a bration with a Flower Power Love Bug


Happy Easter to YOU and your family! I hope you are enjoying the break. Welcome back to the Blog hop this Easter Weekend. You have possibly come from Kathryn's beautiful blog, so welcome. 


I know everyone gets busy this time of year, and we are going away camping with a few families who are old friends. It's going to be great. About half of the people coming have to drive quite a long way to get here (Usually it's us travelling in the other direction) so it's very exciting to have them coming home. So in preparation for this weekend I have CASE'd a layout from the Sale-A Bration Catalogue (bottom right on page 10) and made some thnkyou cards for them. The "Beautiful Ride" stampset is perfect for the  people who are coming and it's so cute to stamp with. I have CASEd my fellow designer from CTC Rachel Palmiere who recently used this set and stamped directly onto DSP and cut out the car shape from the pattern -Perfect!!  (CTC#70 March 13) I said then that I would give it a go and so I have. That's what is so great about sharing and learning from each other. 



I had some watercolour panels left over from playing with the great colour combination at The Colour Tree Challenge ( you can see that here and if you click on the image below)

Watercolour seemed perfect for a Love Bug! To tie in the night of Navy I used some DSP from the Flower Patch pack which is still available on the Clearance Rack. The embroidery thread is actually a coral variegated thread but that doesn't show up too well in my photos.






 


I coloured the puppy and the luggage using my trusty blender pen, but I aquapainted the shadows under the car and for the windows and the sky around the vehicle. I got a bit carried away and made about 6 of these, but they were super easy and fun.

    Love both your cards, Liz. The Flower Patch DSP is perfect with the VW beetle. Love the colour palette as well.

    What a fun pair of cards using one of my all time favourite DSP. I hope you have a lovely Easter with your friends. How cute is that dog in the backseat!

      Thanks Tricia, I actually made a whole heap and have a few more to share - I cut words from an old wine compendium to describe my friends- classic vintage, excellent year, a rare blend etc, They are a bit of fun! I love personalising cards for special people!

    Simply love both of these cards and want to try this design myself. I'm from the VW Beatle age so appreciate the flower power as well as the multi-coloured one. Takes me for a trip literally down memory lane.

      Thanks Penny, I used to ride to work in a bright orange beetle with my groovy friend. We thought we were uber cool! So yes I love this stamp set too, and certainly brings back fond memories

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are.
