JAI #597 flowers and patterned paper using Hand Penned

I have had the luxury of having quite a bit of time to be creative this week and have really enjoyed the opportunity to follow along with some favourite challenges and groups for inspiration and ideas.

One of those groups is "the Crafty Carrot" and I participated in their March workshop using Rainbow of Happiness- and it certainly did make me happy!
Jennifer Frost is one of the designers and she has a special interest in "using up your stash" and using past products- which is perfect since I DO have quite a few on my shelves. So this card is CASE'd from her project. I have a few more which I will share soon ( who am I kidding, I have a LOT more !)

The Hand Penned stamp and dies are current - and staying for another year which is fabulous. Same for the Embossing folder and the INcolour Shimmer vellum. Sadly the rainbow dies are not in the new Annual Catalogue which starts on May 2, but I am hopeful that the rainbows will carry over after the end of June when that catalogue finishes.
The ribbon is retired as are the Crystal buttons and the hexagon punch - an oldie but a goodie. I still love stitching buttons onto projects.

To colour my flower I used the Blends ( alcohol markers ) on Crumb Cake cardstock and then coloured over it with a white chalkboard marker - sadly these are also retiring. They are really useful, and add a nice dimension here.

This is Jenn's card, isn't it a beauty.

Thanks for stopping by today, I will share more of my rainbow creations as I have had such fun preparing them

I hope you have a creative week and remember,
"don't just post online,
 post something pretty!"
cheers, Liz

  1. I've never seen anyone colour with a chalk marker on top of blends - what a wonderful effect it creates! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Just Add Ink this week.

Funky Folds Blog Hop= a Bay window card using Country Flowers

Well it's been a very long time since I participated in a blog hop - and it feels good to be participating in a FUNKY FOLDS hop. You may have come from Jan McQueen's creation, or you may be starting here. Be sure and hop all the way around. I do love Fancy Fold cards and of course with a new catalogue and new products it is fun to be creating again. I have a big weekend retreat coming up in a few weeks and we are using the Country Flowers Stamp set so I am creating a swag of samples. Since time is such a precious commodity for all of us I am using some old favourite folds with new products - a whole new lease on life. For this week's hop I am revisiting the Bay Window Card. The front tri-panel piece bends forward and tucks in behind the little anchor which is fixed to the inside. Your card will stand up unaided. This is it with the edge tucked under the anchor. You can find the measurements and instructions and several previous samples on these pages. Today's card featu...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. Picture credit - https://leahhopephotography.client-gallery.com/.../print... I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
