Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #234

This great sketch was quite easy to use, and I was keen to use up the leftovers from my card class today - christmas with the Festival of Trees Set. (more photos of those later)
I have used one of my favourite colour combinations -
Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon and Kraft/ Crumb Cake.

The Festival of Trees image is heat embossed with Pool Party powder which tones so beautifully with the Lost Lagoon. Unfortunately I used up all my ribbon in the class but I have a great stash of crochet cotton in matching colours to most of my cardstock thanks to my good friend and colour expert Sloane at Needlework cottage.

One of the great products in the new Christmas Catalogue is the  Under the Tree Designer Series Paper. It has such  great weight and texture. .
After watching the video from SU on Stampin Connection I was keen to try the spritzing colour on the kraft side because the white printing allows you to use the emboss resist technique. It's beautiful.

Perhaps I didn't use enough ink in my spritzer but I had much better success applying ink direct to the card with the ink pad. I LOVE the rich tones it gave me. Here are my comparison pieces and I have used a small strip of this in the card.
Spritz on the left, ink pad on the right.
Tried it with Hello Honey too  natural on the left, ink pad on right, cardstock colour behind.
- love this,  much richer IRL

There's the little strip, love it

Hope you try the technique with the DSP.
Thanks for looking, Liz

Funky Folds Blog Hop= a Bay window card using Country Flowers

Well it's been a very long time since I participated in a blog hop - and it feels good to be participating in a FUNKY FOLDS hop. You may have come from Jan McQueen's creation, or you may be starting here. Be sure and hop all the way around. I do love Fancy Fold cards and of course with a new catalogue and new products it is fun to be creating again. I have a big weekend retreat coming up in a few weeks and we are using the Country Flowers Stamp set so I am creating a swag of samples. Since time is such a precious commodity for all of us I am using some old favourite folds with new products - a whole new lease on life. For this week's hop I am revisiting the Bay Window Card. The front tri-panel piece bends forward and tucks in behind the little anchor which is fixed to the inside. Your card will stand up unaided. This is it with the edge tucked under the anchor. You can find the measurements and instructions and several previous samples on these pages. Today's card featu...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car...

Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. Picture credit - https://leahhopephotography.client-gallery.com/.../print... I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
