CTC#200 a little toil, but no trouble.

Well it's that time of year when lots of the shops seem to be decked out in Halloween theme. It's not a holiday I celebrate at all - but I did instantly fall in love with the card on page 51 . What can I say, it has a watercolour background, of course it's going to appeal to me!

I also managed to use up a few bits and pieces from the Useful Box so that was pleasing too - the stitched circle of Calypso Coral and silver DSP, the little bird, and a few loose pink pearls.

I watercoloured a panel of Shimmery White cardstock and stamped the dots while it was still a little damp. I softened the effect by layering a piece of
vellum over the top. This has been embossed with the subtle folder and gives it a lovely muted presence. The bird has been coloured with the blends and fussy cut, and the leaf frond is quietly tucked in the back but higlighted with a pearl. The sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams set. What a pretty font.

this is the card on page 51 of the Holiday Catalogue.
I did do a second version !! This time I embossed the whole watercolour panel with the subtle folder before layering up the ribbon, the heart and sentiment. For my wooden element I had run out of leaves so this is little bird is an imposter! - it's not Stampin' Up! but it has been around for a while.

Next on the hop this week is the lovely Rachel and her gorgeous project

  2. This layout caught my eye too, Liz. Both your cards are lovely, but the first one is just delightful. I love the largely monochrome colours that make the bird pop.

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are.
