Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.
Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature.
I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.
Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous.
Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embossed panel and circle frame came together quickly. To cut the frame you need to put run and large and a small circle die through the machine at the same time. I cut 4 pieces and stuck them together to give a nice solid ring.
The ribbon is retired from my stash, but I'm a big believer in using what you have.
Since the die cuts all 3 flowers, and I ended up using only the large one, I ended up with lots of extras. I love to make up "Scraps Off the Desk" cards using bits and pieces lying around. It's satisfying to use up those bits and create something new.
The tiny flowers in these dies are really beautiful and detailed, and very easy to work with. The Thankyou is from Changing Leaves but most of the papers are retired.
It's such a fresh colour combination we would love to see what you can create with these same colours. Check out the projects by the design team to see what a big range of ideas were inspired this week. You can join us just by sending a photo to the group Facebook page/
