CI#60 , a challenging palette

Well I have to say this colour palette is beautiful but it was certainly a challenge- quite apart from finding the time to create which is a challenge all of its own.
I normally sway quite easily to blues and greens, and my first impression of the new In Colours was that Terracotta Tile would be my least favourite. How wrong I was. It's still not my fave but I surprise myself with how much I am using it.
I think working with a colour that is not your favourite is a good way to drive some creative thinking.
I was very keen to use the stamp set from the Fro the Love of Felt kit - the leaves and the stitching and the flower are all gorgeous elements.  The kit is really gorgeous. So this is what I came up with.

welcome back to another round of Colour INKspiration. It seems like an age since I was involved and I didn't want another challenge to race past me. This one runs for 3 weeks so hopefully you will get a chance to join in with us.

I used both the pink and terracotta to watercolour a panel of shimmery white, stamped the leaves and the blu sprigs, but stamped the flowers on a scrap and fussy cut them. As well as the tiniest edge of the scalloped trim on each side I added a little bit of cream lace and some stitched embossing along one edge. When I cut the scalloped trim apart the fibres from the middle frayed off quite easily and they are tucked behind the sentiment. They have a lovely weight to them.

However, I will admit I was tired when I stole a few moments in my craft room to make this because I managed to stamp the inside of the card thinking it was portrait instead of landscape!! OH well, I have included the photo so you can see what a lovely group of elements they are.

So after me you are back to the beginning of the hop with Bronwyn and her gorgeous creation - if you have followed Bronwyn for a while you'll recognise owls as a recurring theme for her- so sweet.

Don't forget we love to see what you can create too. Send us a photo on our Facebook group.

I hope you have a creative week and remember,
"don't just post online,
 post something pretty!"

cheers, Liz

  1. A classic composition for your card Liz, and so perfect to set those blooms off. I'm going to check that stamp out too I think.

  2. That's really pretty, Liz. The watercolouring is subtle but holds the design together. I also though TT would be my least favourite new colour but this challenge has given me a new respect for it. And it looks so good with Pretty Peacock!

CTC#86 Everyday is a good day to send a card

Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. Picture credit - https://leahhopephotography.client-gallery.com/.../print... I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are.
