What an honour to be invited back to join with the Caseing the Catty team for their 500th challenge! Thankyou Bec for thinking of me. I started with the CTC crew way back at the beginning and I still go to the catalogue as a ready reference for creative ideas. The earliest post I can find is 2014 - CTC#3! 10 years of crafting along, that's pretty amazing. For this challenge it was completely open to choose any project to  CASE from either the annual or the Christmas mini catalogue. There are lots of projects in there that spark a creative journey for me and I did have a hard time choosing. In the end I opted for something simple since none of us have much free time at this hectic time of year. To make things a tad more difficult I have covid so feeling pretty low on energy. Lucky that crafting is a relaxing pastime and I can sit at my craft desk without be scolded too much by my loving DH that I need to be resting! Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...

 I love a quick and easy card, and using this gorgeous DSP as a background with some simple embellishments or a sentiment is one of the easiest ways to get the real "WOW" from the paper onto your card. I used the Decorative Trees dies to cut a tree from some Bright Pink Foil in my stash, and popped it up on a simple plain label. I also had some pink flowers in the useful box so they went on too - just enough to lift it. I didn't think it needed too much more, and a sentiment seemed unnecessary or distracting. The paper really is marvellous. This is the same principal, just slightly different tones - I was able to whip up 6 cards quite quickly. This weeks colour combination is so super striking. If you check out the Picture Credit link you will see a truly ornate Christmas setting. I love the effort that some people employ for decor. My own efforts are pretty simple by comparison, but I love looking at other people's ideas. At this time of year I love cards that are quick to create but still look luxurious. So this is a very simple card to pull together. Well its' been such a long time since the retreat and I have been very slow to post Alice's gorgeous teapot swing card.  ( it uses a paper hinge, like a brad ) It was fabulous to create something with a very different construction. When I first saw this video I thought it would appeal to Alice's mathematical and precise brain so I sent it to her. OF course she didn't fail to amaze us with her creation. Since a picture paints a thousand words it's easiest to describe the method through this  video  clip which shows how it is done. I hope you can follow the link  - It's a Facebook Reel from KTCrafts. The trick is to be very careful not to adhere anything to the two flaps. In this card only the bow is adhered to the flaps so that they are hidden. It was a good way to tidy up the card front. What a beautiful colour combination for CI#176. This is such a lovely fresh colour palette, I had a lot of fun putting this card together. I wanted to use the Textured Floral stampset as it has been sitting on my shelf a teensy bit neglected. It was perfect to use with only one colour of flower. Petunia Pop is bright and breezy and all 5 In Colours are available in the 2024-2026 12 x 12 specialty Glimmer paper which was a lovely lift for the flower centres.The Granny Apple Green leaves add a brightness and I used the olive glimmer paper (from the Berry Burst, Old Olive and White Glimmer Paper )to add some sparkle. It was nice to use just the one stampset and Textured Floral dies for this project - although the label die for the sentiment is from a retired set. I am not always great at cutting straight strips so this die gets me out of trouble sometimes.   There are several great techniques using White Pigment Ink. At a recent event I demonstrated a few of them including: ( well it's a while ago now!)     * Direct stamping with White onto coloured cardstock     *Offset stamping     *Bokeh technique     *Painting with White Ink     *Emboss Resist It has taken me a while to share these samples, I'll post them over a few days. I hope you give some of these techniques a try. So this is a bit of a different approach to Emboss Resist. Often it is done with White, or Metallic , or Black and then coloured ink is blended over the embossing to make the stamped image jump forward. ( usually on a neutral cardbase ) This technique uses a different approach. Step 1. I stamped the leaves (from Changing Leaves) with Versamark and then used Clear Embossing Powder.
