CTC#91 Back to Birthdays
Welcome to the CASEing the Catty Sunday night blogshop where we use a section of the Catalogue to inspire this weeks projects. This shows you how to get all your card pieces from one A4 sheet.
The most complex part is cutting the banner pieces for your shutter mechanism. Measure 11/8" along the centre line and make a mark. cut to this point from both corners. Cut both flags the same. (SEE photo below) I did try using the banner punch with narrow flags but then your window for the birthday message is too tiny,
The banners need to have the tips overlapping when they are glued down to the side flaps.
The DSP measures 71/2 square for the envelope. (Punch and score at 3 1/2") then cut from the remainder a strip that is 3 7/8" wide and use this to cut your mat pieces for all the flaps
3 7/8" square for background of centre panel of card base
3 7/8 x 4 for centre panel with window
17/8 x 3 7/8 x four panels to go on the side flaps inside and out
The easiest way to line up the side flags is to glue them down facing outwards with the edge of the card lined up with your DSP edge.
The Centre panel is simply lying on top at this point. You need to mark the centre on the reverse and cut your window using the circle framelits.
The window partly open..... and ta da.....

This week we are again using the samples from the BIRTHDAYS section from pages 10-25. Because you can never have too many birthday cards!
I have had some fun with the Fiesta set and the gorgeous bright paper and have made a magic window card.I have done several of these in the past in the 6x6 size (you can find links in the archives of May 2013 here), but wanted something smaller. There are lots of tutorials out there and I think the easiest video to follow is Teri Pocock.
My preferred card size is 41/2 x41/2 but despite lots of experimenting I was unable to work an easy solution so I ended up with a 4x4 card which is fine because you can get the envelope and all the trimming paper from one sheet of 12 x 12 and one sheet of A4 cardstock.

The sentiment is frim Confetti Celebration but I did have some fun inking around it with the elements from the Fiesta stamp set.
