Happiness is... Playing with colour!

I'm so honoured to be part of this great blog hop.  There are so many lovely stamping friends whom I have come to know a little in the last few months. Some I've met at Onstage and some I only know online. It's amazing how we all connect through a love of creating.

Like Kelly I have been a demo for 5 years and just received my 5 yr badge a few weeks ago, but unlike Kelly my kids are grown and moved away, so I am in awe of how much she is able to create and her awesome energy while still having little ones at home. I think we can all learn a lot from each other, but she definitley inspires me with her bubblyness and fun and creative approach.

So thinking about the brief I tried to pinpoint what makes me happy ( in the paper world..)
here's a few:
  • brand new sheets of pretty paper
  • new stamp sets
  • playing with colour
  • having an idea in my head and being able to make it come to life
  • sharing creativity with others
  • encouraging others to have a go
  • the look of happiness when someone is proud of what they have created
So I am happy to share a swap I created for my Catalogue launch. In a group of 10 we each made 10 cards using new product and swapped so we each have a variety of samples to add to our display. It's been awesome to see what others have created.
I was determined to use the Wood Words set and wanted to create some background paper using the solid images from the set. But I couldn't get it to work for me- I tried monotone, I tried different background colours, I couldn't get the family of 5 to look right so I put it away and made something else. When I came back to it I started again and decided to just go with colours I liked together, and hey presto - "pretty" worked!
I am really happy with how they ended up.

I just started with one colour and stamped off the first image on scrap then kept on going creating lines and building up rows of colour. My colour palette for this one is
  • Berry Bliss
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Crumb Cake
  • Tranquil Tide
  • Fresh Fig

Once I had the rows of colour I stamped 3 roosters randomly and layered the panel up on a Berry Burst mat.
  • Whisper White Panel 2 1/4" x card length
  • Berry Burst Mat 2 1/2" wide x card lenght
  • Woodgrain DSP 1" strip
  • Mini Chevron Ribbon 81/2"
I have a favourite technique for tying ribbon which leaves a very flat bow - I first learnt it from a stamping friend and it is the stitch that bookbinders use to tie a signature of pages together. My class ladies love it so here are the steps for you. It is very economical on ribbon and the knot/bow always sits very flat.

Stamping makes me happy, but sharing makes me happier.

Of course I couldn't stop at one colour combo
This one is
  • Berry Bliss
  • Fresh Fig
  • Soft Sky
  • Crumb Cake

And this one is
  • Dapper Denim
  • Tranquil Tide
  • Crumb Cake
  • So Saffron

And the same technique of course translates to mini notecards

This new Wood Word set is just so versatile. You are going to love it. I will have more samples coming up for projects for my Catalogue Launch June 10 so make sure you subscribe to my blog - the little email box on the right panel just below the 3 rainbow swirls so you don't miss any of them!

Thanks for looking today. Next is one of my fellow design team members from CASEing the Catty - which is where I met Kelly for the first time too. Each Sunday night we have a blog hop making projects inspired by a particular section of the catalogue. You can join in too using the Facebook page and share your inspired projects. We'd love you to share with us
Enjoy Rachel's project

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car

#Onstage Sydney 2022 Fancy Flora Suite , Display Stamping # 1 beginner, casual, avid samples

I'm so honoured to have been asked to present the premier suite "Fancy Flora" from the new Mini Catalogue - what a treat. ( Available January 5 - May 12023 ). This is one of a series of posts showing some of the projects I created using this suite. It's a long one so grab a cuppa and enjoy my tips and tricks and first projects. Relieved the presentation is over and with my samples on the board! Firstly I had the pleasure of showing the suite- 2 stampsets, 2 sets of dies, some 6x6 DSP, Shimmer Card, Ribbon and Gems. With every new set I allow myself plenty of time to just play with it and explore the possibilities in colour and layout. In doing this I create a series of Mood boards that make it much faster when I come to use the product to quickly identify how many dies in each set, how many stamps and which ones match the dies, and which ribbons and bling I have in my stash- or in the current catalogues that match the colours of the new suite. That way I don't for
