CTC#117, SAB and a handy layout

Welcome back for another week. This week I have taken a layout from page 12 and ended up on a journey with a few unplanned changes - do you ever start crafting with one plan in mind but it then takes a different direction? Happens to me all the time...

Welcome back for another week at CTC, you may have arrived from Rachel, or you may be starting here, but sit back with a cuppa and enjoy the hop around this week's collection of projects inspired by pages 12-15 of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. So here's where my journey began..


I liked the partial die cut element where the taco truck outline comes right off the edge of the circle, so I planned to try that with the chicken. You need to stamp your image first, lay the frame lit (any shape) so that part of the image extends outside the circle, and lay your top acrylic plate so that part of the circle (or other frame lit) is not covered by the plate. Run your sandwich through the bigshot then hand cut the remainder of the image. Easy!
The other elements which I liked from the Catalogue card was the embossed panel of card the same colour as the base. Crumb Cake is my favourite card base- especially with those great envelopes to match. I ran the flap of the envelope through the embossing folder too - one of my Mum's signature finishes!

I wanted to try the same technique with an older stampset so I used the leaf from Kinda Eclectic, changed the shape and the placement, but kept the other elements the same.

Then of course I got carried away and had to do another one! ....well it happens.... this one doesn't have a partial die cut, instead it has the leaf image cut out completely and raised up on the a watercoloured leaf on the base layer. Also instead of embossing a panel the same colour as the base I used a panel the same colour as the top layer. The beautiful sentiment is from Rose Wonder.

    I love your chicken card and the embossing really suits it. Of course, the other two are fab as well!

CTC#48 Who doesn't love new DSP

Welcome back to CASEing the Catty for this round. You may have come from Rachel's beautiful project  or you maybe starting here. There are lots of great posts to visit. This week we are using new Designer Series paper from the Holiday Catalogue - and who doesn't love a pack of new paper? The problem of course is which one to choose.... followed by the problem of actually having to CUT into a pristine pack. ....I know you all know what I mean. I have lots of photos for you today to try and show off some of the designs, but it's not easy to capture and they always look so much better in real life. I have purchased two packs - the Happy Haunting pack on page 47, which I was inspired to get purely from the background piece on the Lighthearted Leaves card on page 44. I don't celebrate Halloween, nor am I usually all that partial to Orange shades, but maybe that's changing! because I really like the designs. The pack has several papers that are specifically...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment.
