CI#189 Flowers to celebrate some New Colours

Welcome back for CI#189. The inspiration pic  for this week's challenge is just gorgeous. I love Gum flowers, and my Mum has one of these amazing flowering gums in her back garden. Our guest designer this week is Petra Noeth, we welcome her beautiful project.  Do be sure to check out all the inspiration projects on our Facebook Page from the design team.

I made a card and matching little gift box.

I am trying (very hard) to embrace Darling Duckling so have used that as the focal flowers for my project this week. They are simply cut from the DSP and then layered up in a bouquet. I have gone around the cut edges with the Darling Duckling Stamp n'Write marker to give some added definition and remove the white which shows from the cut edge. The leaf sprays are also fussy cut from the DSP. I have only a hint of Melon Mambo in the card base and then all the flower centres.  The amazing oval from the Impressions Abloom dies cuts both a solid oval and this very fine detailed border piece which I adhered to a Secret Sky base. The Damask Designs and the Forever Plaid embossing folders added the necessary lift to all the layers.

You can find all these products in my Online Store here.

This little box is tiny but so sweet. It is from a youtube instruction for "Mini fold flat rigid box" by Created the Ottoway Mine is closed with a belly band.

The DSP is lovely and it is not too difficult to cut out the flowers.
I love that they are all slightly different and imperfect - quite natural.

The inside has a few paper strips and one more blossom to decorate.

One of the highlights is the Soft Sky foil spirals. These are an old trick I haven't used for a while and are very easy. Cut a narrow strip of foil, grasp one end with your tweezers, wrap the foil tightly around the closed tweezers and then gently pull out the spiral to the desired length. I fix the end with a glue dot underneath one of the flowers .

I tried, but I still haven't fallen in love with it. I promise I will persevere!- but i do love all the other new colours !

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. Picture credit - https://leahhopephotography.client-gallery.com/.../print... I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
