Welcome back for the last weekend of the 'old' Catalogues. It is so exciting that we will have a new catalogue of amazing products to be inspired by going forward. But today is time for one last look back and we can CASE anything. So I am showcasing a project I made using the fabulous Memories and More Cards. I am always inspired by all the gorgeous gift wrapping and presentations in all the Stampin Up publications so I wanted to try my hand at making a bag and tag. I have wanted to create a handbag for quite a while so I found plenty of Youtube clips to show the basic method. As usual though the sizes were perfect for US size cards and the bag was too small for our regular C6. So I did a tiny bit of maths and created these which are big enough to hold the Memories and More cards. This was perfect for whipping up a quick set.
My project sort of started with this tag from the inspiration picture and you can see there is one of these tags on each of the "handbags".
Sorry there are lots of pictures for this post, just showing some of the cards I made using the M&M cards as the base. They were pretty quick to assemble. I'm sorry they are retired, along with the gorgeous navy and white striped cards. However, the new offering are Kraft and silver - and the same size as the large ones only. So I can see myself recreating this in another colour palette to suit the magnolia M&M cards.
There are plenty of tutorials but naturally I can't find the one I used first. However This is the tutorial which is essentially the same.
I followed it for the technique.
Base: Cardstock 5" x 8" score at 1" on all sides
Handles 1' x 11" score at 1/2" - can leave flat about 11/2" from each end, glue folded, punch corner rounder at each end. Curve gently with bone folder.
Handbag DSP use allover print, be mindful of one way patterns
Two pieces glued together with about 1/2" overlap
41/2" x 12 " and 41/2" x 7" . Examine best start point for application so that joins are not in the "front" of your bag.
Trim - either DSP or Cardstock: 3/4" cut 2 x 11" and 2 x 81/2"- one each for outside trim at the top, one each for inside reinforcement after handles are attached.
For the box/bag base you need a piece of Cardstock 5" x 9" scored at 1' on each side..
The DSP is 4 1/2" x 12" x 2 pieces- once you have a long strip experiment with placement begining and end points and trim to appropriate length.
DSP trim is 3/4" wide x 12" x 4 pieces- experiment as for DSP.
Handles are Cardstock 1" x A4 length scored lengthwise at 1/2"
Assembly as above.
Next this week is my very generous friend Peta.
Be sure and hop all the way around.
I hope you have a creative week and remember,
"don't just post online,
post something pretty!"
