 Well it's almost the end of October which means time to start preparing for Christmas....(I know- right?!)  I have a full day Christmas Card Class this Saturday and it will be great to get together with so many of my stamping friends as its been a long time.  I always like to have a good display of samples using the current products for these events and I'm excited to share some of them with you next week, but it was a good excuse to use this week's colours to stretch my Christmas theme. I had fun playing with the cute little gnomes from the Gnome for the Holidays set. I also wanted to showcase some alternative uses for the Tag Topper Punches as we'll be using them too. Here we are again for another round and this week we are taking a layout from the annual catalogue and recreating it with Christmas products. I wasn't sure about the Toile Tidings paper although I do love the colours, but it looks very different once it is made up into projects, and I quite like the simplicity of monotone projects.  The Northern European snowy woods images don't really match our drought stricken region but I do love the page covered with leaves and berries, so I made a card using a layout that was capable of showing off the gorgeous print. I have CASEd the layout from page 86 and rotated it to landscape. Instead of stamping the plain card layer I used the piece of DSP. Well it's quite provident that this week's challenge at Global Design Project is BABIES!  (GDP#003) as I have a special baby card for some friends who have had a long and anxious wait. And she arrived this week safe and sound so this card is to welcome Heidi Maree. It is a folding card with a concertina of tags which I have made before for Father's Day (Accordion Tag Fold card)  and you can find the instructions here . It is a little hard to photograph so this is a picture heavy post, I hope you get the idea. I wanted something bright and cheerful so I have used a retired colour - the bright and lovely Pretty in Pink which tones beautifully with Strawberry Slush (also retired), and I have kept it to a monotone with only a few touches of silver. The retired set Hello Love has such sweet images, and it was a great opportunity to use the Alphabet Rotary Stamp to make this truly personal with her name and birthdate. This week we are inspired by the projects in the Love and Sympathy section of the catalogue. This was hard because there are just so many beautiful inspiration pics in this section, however I was immediately drawn to the picture on page 25 the very first time I saw it. I have to say however, that this was not an easy card to CASE. I used the Awesomely Artistic Set and substituted a few elements. I don't have those lovely label Framelits so I punched each strip with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch on either end and then trimmed the stamped layer back a little. I did't want to use a do...

I had. A lot of fun making this style of card. It is not my original design and I am grateful to Linda Higgins who has made a tutorial on her website.She uses both cm and inches in her measurements but I find it confusing switching between the two.  So here are my measurements in all metric: Take an A4 piece of cardstock and cut it vertically down the middle at 10.5cm - this is the metric standard card width I use all the time. Trim one of these pieces to 9cm width and score this piece in half at 14.8cm. This will be your card front. I have decorated this piece with the tree from Look Up to Father. Score the remaining piece at 1.5cm, (for first Tab - will be glued to inside of card front)  then 4 panels that are 6.5cm wide. i.e. score at 1.5, 8, 14.5, 21, 27.5 , the remaining small section will be your second tab to glue to inside of card back. mark the midpoint of each of the 6.5cm panels and slide the scallop tag topper punch all the way in lining up the midpoint of...

The Handmade Expo Markets are on again this weekend and I have been busy creating some more scallop tag topper cards. The first was for a young friend's birthday and shows how they can be personalised, but the others are a few of what is for sale this weekend. I am quite proud of the little boxes I made for them to go in- using my Envelope Punch Board of course!

I have been playing with the Scallop Tag Topper punch- which I love - and found some inspiring pictures on Pinterest (Of course!!). I quite like the Love card made byLeanne Pugliese here  at Wee Inklings, so i have made one too. I have used Early Espresso Cardstock and ink,  and Tangerine Tango ink, with DSP from the Venetian Romance set. I can't believe it has taken me nearly a whole year to get some of this paper, it's so beautiful, and now it is going to retire in only a few weeks. You can order your set from my online store. I don't have any current large alphabet stamps but the Lovely Letters seemed perfect.I have also used Petite Petals stamp and Punch, Simply Sketched Hostess set( also about to retire), sentiment from One in a Million (also on the goodbye list) as well a a very old sentiment from a forgotten set. I am also quite happy with my rolled newsprint roses. Now I need to make a box to fit it in, but that will be easy with my Envelope Punch Board ...
