CI#79 Rich and Regal colours for another Jar of Flowers and an exciting postage discovery.

This week we have a really rich colour palette which did challenge me! I don't usually use such strong colours together so to tone it down I painted a piece of watercolour paper with the Navy, Blackberry and Merlot and used the framelits to cut out several leaves using the gorgeous Forever Fern and Forever Flourishing framelits.  I punched out a second jar then held it in the punch to make it shorter. This was then painted and sponged to give some depth. I just love the shaker filled with sparkly bits! I was super excited to discover that the card will fit inside our Acetate Boxes (p152 of the New Catalogue), which means that you can post your gorgeous shaker card. In Australia the box is classed as a medium letter and will require 2 postage stamps instead of 1. It's really that easy! So for $1.22 for the box and $2.20 for postage it's not expensive to post something really special. Here's what's left of my watercolour piece -I even have...

Pastel Rainbow thinking of you

While creating my rainbow card for Kelly's social stamping blog I also created a pastel version. Same idea- watercolour wash background, some added texture and decorate with one of my surplus embellishments from a card kit. This one is left over from my "Lots of Happy" card kit, and the sentiment is from Rooted in Nature which I have used a bit this week.  I coloured the floral bouquet with Blends The shimmery white background has a watercolour wash using the 2018-2020 In Colours. Sadly, these will retire in only a few months, so if you love them it would be a good idea to make sure the inks and refills are in your collection. Lovely Lipstick Blueberry Bushel Call Me Clover Pineapple Punch Grapefruit Grove Both this kit and the For the Love of Felt kits (see yesterday's post) are still available and are easy to put together. In these times of isolation they are the perfect activity for some ...

Social Stamping blog hop using RAINBOWS

Hello again, we are stamping this week using rainbows as our theme. I've noticed chalk rainbows on the fences around my neighbourhood since Kelly suggested this and they make me smile as I drive past. I remember my kids doing lots of fence/ pavement/ trampoline chalk art too. Such a potent symbol of hope and rebirth. Thankyou to Kelly for suggesting this theme, it's a lovely way to share hope around our community this week. I hope you are feeling some positive vibes too.  I have a simple floral arrangement on my watercolour background this week, with some machine stitching and some shimmery white embossing paste. I decorated my card with some leftover felt flowers and elements from the amazing "For the Love of Felt" kit. These are truly stunning and make any card look fabulous.  My cards use almost all the rainbow colours in a watercolour wash background. blue, green, yellow, orange, red, and I added purple using cardstock sprigs in the floral arrangemen...

CI #73 Sally's photo

The beautiful photo for CI#73 was taken at a property outside Longreach called Ernestina in June 2019 after some winter rain. It is a very rare display of so many flowers commonly called Lamb's tail (appropriate since it used to be sheep country) or Mulla Mulla or Cotton Bush, but properly known as Ptilotus exaltatus, P.nobilis, P. obovatus. We lived in Longreach for 4 years in the early 90's and Sally is a friend we made during that time. She has quite an eye for photography. The seasons since have been quite hard  and they have not had much of the recent rains. The longterm effects of living with drought are real and profound. I never cease to be amazed at the myriad of difficulties that primary producers live with that we take for granted in our urban lives, and the strength they need to keep going. Please keep all our drought stricken farmers in your thoughts and prayers. The drought is certainly not broken....  I made 2 different cards using these lovely colours and ...

Poppy wedding cards using #72 colour INKspiration colour combo

This week's colour combination is just lovely to play with and after I cut out my full sheet of elements I was able to create a pile of cards. These are a few Wedding cards. Of course it's nice to have a splash of colour on the inside too. I was able to get quite a few elements from my sheet. And finally a card for any occasion. I hope you are inspired to try these colours, they are a lot of fun to use. Post a photo of your creation on our Facebook page . I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz
