CI#214 - not going backwards - Just playing catchup!

Using up my stash - I have such a lot of beautiful paper, and tons of little elements cut and ready in 'The Useful Box", so I have enjoyed using limited crafting time to put ready made pieces onto crafted backgrounds, even the sentiment was cut and ready! I used 1"squares of DSP pieces in Melon Mambo, Fresh Freesia and Berry Burst to create a little patchwork background and then ran it all through an embossing folder to give it that 'quilted' look. This is an old technique which I have used a lot and it always works so well. Because the colours were so bold I simply added white flowers for my focal point, and sponged a touch of both greens onto the leaves. Simple, and done! I do love a square card. Isn't this photo just gorgeous. Picture credit - photo taken by Lou. This is taken at Yuushien Garden, Daikonshima, Japan in May this year during the floating peony display during Golden Week. Truly something else! INKspired to join the challenge? It's so easy....

Cathedral Windows Inspired in a Frame with New Edition Toys, Inspre:Create #24

Last week for CASEing the Catty we used the section for Natures' Poem and I was inspried by a few things in the Catalogue. One of them was the mosaic style of card using stamped images on page 152. I used to make a lot of Patchwork style cards and since my crafting mojo has been a little low lately I find it helpful to go back to styles I used to like. So patchwork styles reappeared in my vision and I had always wanted to try a cathedral windows style. This is what I ended up with - eventually! I punched out 2" circles of patterned paper and cut squares of woodgrain or plain card to 1 1/4", and folded the edges of the circle over the squares. Getting them all lined up in the grid took a little time but I like the spacing which also allowed me to decorate the edges using some of the fabulous copper vinyl stickers from the Tea Room Copper stickers. I also used these to create a butterfly and a bee which sit up on some wire, as well as adhering one to some So Saffro...
