CTC#181 - It's a NEW Catalogue

CTC#181 Welcome to the NEW CATALOGUE. Oh my Goodness so many lovely new products. and of course new colours. I've been busy preparing for my Catalogue Launch June 9 and I am totally in love with the Nature's Poem Suite. The stamps are lovely, the paper is gorgeous and the framelits make it all so easy. I'm also quite impressed with the new gorgeous In Colours for 2018-2020. And while I am always sad to see colours discontinued - especially Dapper Denim, I have to say I've fallen in love with the brightness of the new set. I have been having fun watercolouring with these colours - and if you follow my blog that won't surprise you. I have loosely CASEd the watercolour panel card on page 133, to create my new In Colour sampler. The text is created using the alphabet stamps from the set "Make a Difference" - so easy to use. With one of the panels I painted I used the "Enjoy Life" stampset from page 58 to create a few cards- I love t...

CI#34 Retro streetscape inspiration

Welcome back for another round of Colour INKspiration. I love the inspiration picture, but I have to admit I struggled with this combination! In the end I am quite happy with the final result- but quite a few options did land in the scrap bin! I have used the fabulous Waterfront set- I'm so glad this is carrying over, as well as the Love Life set for the sentiment inside. The sentiment on the front and the little heart inside come from the Tabs for Everything set. I find this unassuming little set really comes in handy.  The yellow paperclip is a one of those bits and bobs that fill my stash of embellishments- you never know when one is just going to be perfect. I do love the feeling in this sentiment. It sums up a lot of essential truth I think. Next on the hop this week is Bronwyn , I'm always intrigued to see what everyone creates- especially when the colours have really been a challenge for me. I hope you have a creative week and remembe...

CI#30 amazing reflection colours

Welcome back for another round of colourful fun. This week's inspiration picture is amazing and the colours are gorgeous but gee I found it hard to get any ideas to work this week! Does that happen to you too? I had loads of ideas that were fabulous in my head but translating those to reality was just elusive this time around.  However I'm happy to say that after lots of attempts at various ideas, sticking with it paid off and I am quite happy with the final result. A blend of watercolouring and bokeh techniques,  inspired by the ripples in the water in the photo- and the leaf in the foreground. I love the Shimmery white Card for this sort of watercolouring. It's easy to work with. These are all pretty strong colours together so I added only the smallest amount of Cherry by stamping the sentiment and the wee hearts so as not to overpower the piece. I could have used those enamel hearts on everything if there were enough in a pack! The tiny sentiment is from th...

CTC#164 CASEing the gorgeous KITS in the Occasions Catalogue

Welcome back for the Sunday night treat - CASEing the kits section from the catalogue. There are several just gorgeous kits in this catalogue - and so stunning when completed. The best thing about the Lots of Happy Card Kit is that you can purchase the refill kits. Recently for our Stamping Retreat we included one full 1/4 of a refill kit in everyone's goodie bag. They received everything they needed to make one of each of the beautiful card you see in this week's inspiration pic. However, I decided instead this week to CASE the layout of one of the cards on the bottom of page 17. I love the  background stamping using some text,  a little feature element  a coloured card base some matching sponging behind the element to tie the colours together and a sentiment stamped over the background I did get a bit carried away in the end..... not unusual.....and ended up with lots of backgrounds.  So I made them all up. My goal this weekend is to use up all the ...

CTC#140 Inspired by the Babies and Kids section

Hello and welcome back for another week of inspiration from the Catalogue. This week we are using pages 102-111. Have you ever seen a set in the catalogue that was a "Must Have" item which you find hard to use once you have it in your hands?? The Bookcase Builder set was one of those for me. But I am happy that thanks to CTC now that I have had it out I am much more comfortable with it. I challenged myself to CASE the card on page 105 and see what I could come up with. I even managed to get some Father's Day cards done as well. It is quite a versatile set once you get going with it. I love that you can stamp the images individually or put them all on a block to stamp backgrounds in a hurry. I sold all my baby girl cards at last week's markets so need a few to replenish my stash. But I couldn't make a girl card and not mirror it with a boy card. This image from page 105 shows you both the inspiration card and the fabulous images in the stamp ...
