Getting the most from the Leaf Punch

I was inspired last year by a framed wreath tutorial. I think it was by Mikaela Thitheridge using the sprig punch, and had LED fairy lights wound around inside it. It was beautiful and although I purchased and read her tutorial I never got around to making it, ( and now I can't find it lol....)  but I have been wanting to create a few items using the leaf punch as I will be using it in an upcoming class and wanted to show how versatile it is. So this is my small version. I used one complete A4 sheet of 5 different greens: Call Me Clover   Shaded Spruce   Mint Macaron   Garden Green   Soft Sea Foam and punched as many leaves as I could from each sheet. I put all the leaves in a clear plastic storage case and simply made a tossed salad with them and scrunched up handfuls so they were mixed and a little distressed. I used a cereal bowl as a template and cut out a circle of thick card, and a circle of Soft as Suede a good bit larger,...

Dynamic Seasonal Wreath for Global Design Project#165

I have been busy making Christmas Cards and love this beautiful wreath embossing folder. It looks so lovey sponged with White Shimmer Paint. This is a fairly simple attachment of punched embellishments, a loop of the lovely Merry Merlot and Copper ribbon stapled on with some twine strands. I threaded the (retired) silver embellishment through before tying a bow. The wooden word is sponged lightly with the Merry Merlot inkpad. Super quick in the end. This could be my go to card for 2018! I think it also qualifies for JAI#434 if I'm published in time! For the inside I ended up cutting up one of the fabulous foil edged cards after I smudged ink on the reverse. But no matter it hasn't gone to waste. The sentiment is from the retired Musical set from 2107, I still love the simplicity of this message. I'm quite happy with this one. How's your Christmas preparation coming along? If you need any of these fabulous products to get your crafting speeding up ...

CTC#41 Christmas section

Welcome back to the Friday bloghop around the CTC crew. I struggle with making Christmas cards so far out from November (OK I know it's not really that far....) However I had fun making this week's entry. I focused on the layout on the top left of the front page of the section. (page 67 in the catalogue) I love the wreath options in the stampsets available now and the matching Framelits but sadly I don't own either of them so I had to create another wreath. I like to find alternative uses for stamp sets I already own, and the beautiful set Awesomely Artistic is perfect for this. Using both the fern images and one layer of Mint Macaron and one of Garden Green I laid down a nest of ferns around a circle I had drawn in pencil. These images work really well for this because they are both already curved images.  This is a technique I have done in Christmas cards in the past and it works quite well, you can see some older samples  here  - one using Gorgeous Grun...

Christmas Cards

Dasher stamped in Early Espresso with Cherry Cobbler glitter on the antlers.  The very vanilla cardstock was run through the bigshot with Early Espresso ink on the Very Vintage Embossing folder - I LOVE this effect. The striped Cherry Cobbler ribbon was last years grosgrains stock and because it was too wide I have cut it in half and sealed the edges with the flame from a cigarette lighter( Thanks to Teniel Williams for this tip) The French Script Background Stamp was my first ever Stampin" Up! purchase - the beginning of a long love affair- fitting that it's French!! This is the design I have used for all my Christmas Cards this year - just posted the last ones today - must have made about 60 of this design. The base card is Naturals White, and the sentiment is heat embossed with White Powder onto Crumb Cake. the Concentric rings stamp is from a Thenkyou set which is VERY old - but still fabulous, and I have stamped over this with the ink spots stamp from Gorgeous Gru...
