Lillybet's Papers

At my Country Bouquet card class in February this is one of the projects we created.  A cute little Tote Bag which holds a set of 4 notecards. We first created the multicoloured strip of card using blending brushes, 3 colours of ink, ( Melon Mambo, Mango Melody and Calypso Coral) on Shimmer Cardstock, White ink splatters, water splashes to lift some of the colour, and finally splatters of gold ink.  The Tote bag was inspired  from © Tammy Shaia, Independent Stampin’ Up! The advantage of this project is that is uses only half a sheet of 12 X 12 DSP and 1 ½ sheets A4 Cardstock, and it fits 4 Notecards and Envelopes ASSEMBLY Makes a beautiful gift. It's Kelly's social stamping monthly bloghop and this is my project. I didn't really notice the Pierced Blooms dies in the Jan-Jun catalogue at first.  I'm not sure the catalogue does them justice- and I don't think my photos will either, but they are absolutely gorgeous.I din't purchase the stampset but you can use the dies as a stand alone product as they contain so much gorgeous detail. This month Kelly has challenged us to create using the BRIGHTS palette. It's so nice to be a part of this casual friendly group of amazing crafters - keeps me motivated and connected; and it's great to be using the Brights.They are always fun happy colours. I have had a greeting card pinned to my noticeboard for many many years and although I don't adhere to its beautiful advice all the time I do love to read it and be reminded to slow down. Welcome back for another round of Kelly's Social Stamping- a group hop by a bunch of stampers gathered together by everyone's friend Kelly. It's a privilege to know Kelly, she is such a gorgeous soul gathering friends from near and far to share inspiration, friendship and creativity- and a sense of connection. I have thoroughly enjoyed this Covid inspired connection.  Our theme for this week is change- and what a vast topic that is- we have all been surrounded by change for months now and it is not an easy challenge. But as the posters keep reminding us "We are all in this together".    One of the biggest places for change has been the workplace, and a lovely friend of mine has been nursing for many years and finished work this week. She has cared for countless patients with her gentle manner and nurtured many nurses and doctors along the way. She has been the breadwinner for her family after emigrating from the UK and work simply won't be the same without he...

Welcome back for the 80th INKspiration colour challenge. Such soft and pretty colours were perfect for creating a 40th Birthday card for a neighbour. I CASEd a technique I saw recently (although I can't find it again now) using the Peaceful Poppies dies and spritqing with water and ink to mould the paper and create a 3D flower. The flower is pink on pink with a purple posy layer as the thinlit on top. The leaves are both pieces of Soft Sea Foam but one is sponged with ink over the cardstock for a deeper layer, and the background is stamped with soft sea foam also before being run through the embossing folder. The glimmer paper is retired as are the big number framelits but they were perfect for the statement for this card. ANZAC Day a solemn day of pride and remembrance of gratitude for service and faith of hope for a brighter, united, peace driven future a day to pause and be together. This year, of course, is different. Ordinarily we are up in the wee hours and walk the 15 minute walk to the Botanical Gardens near our home. We assemble in silence with hundreds of others to pay our respects at the Cenotaph. Our local Dawn Service begins at 0427 (the time the boats landed at Gallipoli).  My husband and I have attended for most of the 16 years that we have lived in this house. We listen to the speaker remember the Anzac story. We pray, we reflect, and we listen to the anthem and the bagpipes. We feel the reverence and the solemnity. But not in 2020. This year our ceremony is different, but no less special. This year we are gathering with our neighbours in our driveways around the nation. This year we stand differently but we hold dear the same values and respect. This year we are a nation...
