Colour INKspiration #208 - Farewell Beautiful colours of 2024-26

Sadly it's time to farewell these 5 fresh colours, I have loved all of them. We welcome Yvonne Spikmans - Van Bruggen as our Guest Designer this week. She always has such fresh and fun cards to inspire us all. These are a few simple cards I made using up some of the DSP in these colours and a current Stamp set called a Round of Hello's - which coordinates beautifully with the large Circle Punch. Picture credit - https://www.stampinup.com.au/products/2024-2026-in-color-classic-stampin-pads I love a quick card and these came together easily. A touch of glimmer paper, a dash of wink of stella and various strips of coordinating paper.  As an added touch of texture I embossed the panels once the DSP had been adhered to the base- a  quick and easy pop of depth. The Round of Hello's is a versatile and easy stamp to use for many different occasions. It coordinates with the 2-3/8" and 2" circle punches. I did also use the stitched circel die from the Stylish Shapes set fo...

August Card Class Sunflower Embossing Folder cards - fabulous foil, and elegant vanilla

It's easy to emboss the envelope flap for that extra special touch.  I know it's no longer August, but I am finally sharing the cards we made at class. The Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder is simply amazing. You can create gorgeous cards very simply and that's exactly what we did. I have 2 samples here - one embossing a full panel of foil, and one using a full panel of white or vanilla. For some I added a leaf diecut from the Thankful Garden dies which is just the right size and shape for the size of the sunflowers. The Sentiment is from Sentimental Framing which is a really beautiful set. The same layout looks quite different created  in plain white or vanilla. the two tone cardstock gives a lovely variation to the leaves as well. So there you have 2 quite different looks, both very simple to put together. Next post will be the Twisted Easel using the Sunflower EF as well for quite a different look. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post on...

Colour INKspiration #191 Celebratory Sips - letting the DSP do the work when time and materials are tight.

Welcome to our guest designer for this challenge Kisha Cook. It's so fun to have  a new guest designer each round. This could be you if your design is the chosen pick from one of our Challenges.  I so look forward to seeing what everyone has made and how they have interpreted the colour palette. The colours this week are very strong colours, but I have tried to soften them a little. We are still in the throes on renovation (pleased to say it is coming to an end) so I have opted for a very simple approach using the fabulous Celebratory Sips designer series paper to do all the heavy lifting for my card this week. I fussy cut two of the celebratory glasses and did some simple stamping of the lime, the sprig and berry and the sentiments. I die cut the berry spray from some retired Glimmer paper. I can't locate my heat gun so couldn't emboss the sentiments as planned, but I could find the blending brushes so added some Berry Burst colour to the pre printed emboss resist DSP for ...

Square card with diamond fold using DSP for Card Class June 25, Impressions Abloom and Greetings for All make it super easy.

I recently posted a simple design for a card that uses more DSP than cardstock. The original design uses half a sheet of 12x12 and you can find the instructions and measurements on this post  from May 16th. It also contains the smaller measurements whih we made at class.  ( using piece 5 x 10"). I was able to source some square envelopes ( 14x14cm) which will fit this size card. Black and white work so well with a pop of a strong colour and I love these Strawberry Slush and Shy Shamrock versions. The smaller white square for the card front has been embossed so that the texture allows the white feature flower to stand out. I don't usually do black leaves but I love the effect here. The stitched flowers are from the Impressions Abloom dies and are quite a feature. These cards came together very quickly using sentiments pressed out from the pre printed sheets "Greetings for All" . The layout is the same but the different colours produce quite different looks. The only...

Easy card using DSP - half sheet 12x12

We all have a stash of beautiful paper and I was inspired by a colleague ( Julia Leeper) to create these cards using a half sheet of 12 x 12 DSP .  These are a great way to use up some of that paper stash. cut DSP 6 x 12 being mindful of directional patterns score your DSP at 3 and 9 inches mark the midpoint on each end and score the paper from the midpoint to each side at the 3"score line.  fold to inside and adhere to create triangle point cut cardstock to 51/2 x 51/2 and white 51/4 x 51/4 and adhere to inside. cut front square cardstock 41/4 x 41/4 and white 4 x 4 adhere to the right flap being mindful of glue placement optional DSP triangles to cover inside flaps 33/4 x33/4 square cut diagonally   As this makes quite a large card and was too big for the square envelopes in my collection, I redrafted a smaller version which is easier to post. DSP 5 x 10, score at 21/2 and 71/2 Cardstock for inside 41/2 x 41/2 white Mat for inside 41/4 x 41/4 cardstock square for front ...

CI#184 Bright Primary colours and a New Stampset - Botanical Textures

Hello there - I'm back from a very busy - hectic - few months as our eldest son got married, we have both entered retirement, and we have commenced major renovations at home requiring a full pack up and shift!! Whew. All great but all exhausting, so it has been something of a treat to be able to spend some time this weekend crafting! ( Also it's raining so much over Qld that I can legitimately stay inside - YAY ). Here's the INKspiration picture for this week - how clever is AI to generate images with the perfect colours. Picture credit  https://www.canva.com/ai-image-generator/ My craft room is largely disassembled, but I've snuck in and found a few things to play with, including a NEW stampset which I found in the online exclusives. 165548    TEXTURED NOTES CLING STAMP SET (ENGLISH)   $41.00 For my first play I experimented with using each image with a single colour and stamping in rows or blocks to add the texture in focus. I fussy cut the large leaf image, a...

Marbled Elegance Christmas cards

I love a quick and easy card, and using this gorgeous DSP as a background with some simple embellishments or a sentiment is one of the easiest ways to get the real "WOW" from the paper onto your card. I used the Decorative Trees dies to cut a tree from some Bright Pink Foil in my stash, and popped it up on a simple plain label. I also had some pink flowers in the useful box so they went on too - just enough to lift it. I didn't think it needed too much more, and a sentiment seemed unnecessary or distracting. The paper really is marvellous. This is the same principal, just slightly different tones - I was able to whip up 6 cards quite quickly. Marbled Elegance 12 x 12 DSP Decorative Trees Bundle - stampset and dies The other option for using beautiful paper is lots of repeated circles, and these ones were easy but somehow took a lot longer to get the position of the circles looking balanced.  Let me know if I can help you at all with your Christmas creating! I hope you ha...

Colour INKspiration #177, Quick and Easy Decorative Trees.

This weeks colour combination is so super striking. If you check out the Picture Credit link you will see a truly ornate Christmas setting. I love the effort that some people employ for decor. My own efforts are pretty simple by comparison, but I love looking at other people's ideas. At this time of year I love cards that are quick to create but still look luxurious. So this is a very simple card to pull together. White card base, White panel 5mm smaller on both sides ( 10 x 14.3cm ) embossed with the   So Swirly Embossing Folder .  Check out the inspiration picture- how lush! Picture Credit  https://debbeesbuzz.com/unique-holiday-peacock-theme-tablescape/  The Decorative Trees dies do all the heavy lifting for this card. They are bundled together for 10% savings but in this Seasonal Sale they are an additional 10% discount. ( Nov 13-15 ) For my card the Tree outlines are cut from marbled or watercolour DSP from various packs, and the gold glimmer trim is self adhesi...
