CTC#157 CASEing a colour combination - with a Sneak Peak of a gorgeous new framelit!

Welcome back to another round of Card projects inspired by the Catalogues. This week's challenge is pretty broad and gives us all lots of creative license, it's very easy to find a fabulous colour combination anywhere in  the catalogue, the hardest part is choosing which one....... So I chose the one that jumped off the page at me- the stack of ribbons on page 167 Bermuda Bay (Easily a favourite), Garden Green and Crushed Curry. I found these colours pretty easy to work with, and I needed a birthday card so away I went. I also was keen to play with some elements from a new set of Thinlits which will be coming to you from January 2- Petals and More. It's part of an amazing suite and you are going to love it. So here's your sneak peak. There are several outline thinlits and several detailed thinlits. I have been playing with the corner flower arrangement quite a lot. I'll have another post soon using this element . I have applied a fe...

CTC#137 Easy to be Artistic with beautiful papers!

Welcome back for another week's creations inspired by the catalogue. There are loads of images in the artistic expression section, but my card is taken directly from the banner photo today using the wood rings image in the top right. To be honest I didn't realise that was a stamp until I had a closer look but the whole card appealed to me and I used DSP as the background instead. It's easy to be artistic with so many brilliant tools available to us. If you follow by blog (which is easy to do- just register your email address in the little box below the fourth rainbow swirl box on the right side of this page) then you'll know that I am a big fan of a square card, this one is 12cm x 12cm, a good luxurious size. The inspiration photo this week has so many gorgeous cards and they are all made using background stamps. Just when I think my wish list has gone down to a manageable size it zooms up again! Which one of these beauties will I need first? For this ca...

Colour INKspiration #11, lovely colour combo

I've had a bit of fun this morning playing with a fe new products. I LOVE the new embossing paste- and I've been waiting for ages for SU to bring out some materials for mixed media.  This paste is light and very easy to spread it dries quickly and gives a beautiful finish It can be easily coloured with our refill inks to create a perfect match. This weeks colours are just lovely together.  In my card I have used marina mist ink to colour the paste and used the brick wall mask. This is spread over a watercolour wash using Marina Mist- I just love the layers of colour. To create the leaves I used the 3 ink colours from the challenge and the baby wipe technique to get the variegated leaves using the Colorful Seasons stamp set and framelits. I don't currently have any Early Espresso cardstock but I do have some very old (retired) Early Espresso heat emboss powder, and I have used this for the sentiment on vellum. Of course I ended up with ...

Jigsaw Masculine Leaves for Kylie's International bloghop

Masculine cards are always tricky, but I don't believe they always have to be blue and brown and green and boring!I'm confident that this gallery will contain loads of amazing examples of that.  So this card is cheery and colourful. In truth the colours come from the Colour INKSpiration challenge blog this week because I was playing with them to create some birthday cards for that post. I'm terrible at throwing bits and pieces out and will hold onto them until I can create a new card! This card sort of happened that way. The background panel is shimmer white with some clear block stamping of Pool Party to get that watercolour background colour. The denim leaf is cut using the Seasonal Layers thinlits dies and then inlaid into the embossed cherry panel. I love the simplicity - and the element of a jigsaw piece. I love bows and string but they aren't quite masculine enough are they?! So I have had fun teasing out some of the Copper trim which is also coming in ...
