CI#203 a New Year of Creating starting with Blue

Welcome back to a New Year! Hopefully a year full of creativity! Our year started with a busy month away to celebrate a family wedding so I am now enjoying being home for a little while and getting back into the craft room too. Welcome to our  Guest Designer - Verity Pursglove, I can't wait to see what she creates with these beautiful colours.  Today’s picture which has inspired our colour palette was chosen by Colour INKspiration Crew Member, Monica Formosa. Picture credit -  https://thecameronteam.net/2018-home-trend-watch-iridescents-intense-colors/ I love blues so this was a great way to start the year  for me - however it turns out I rarely use Smoky Slate so only had scraps to incorporate into this project. I discovered that many of my stampsets are now on the "Last Chance" list so I wanted to use some of them before they are gone. The Thankful Garden hydrangea was my choice for some Silver heat embossing and then some watercolouring. I tried this techniq...

Bay Window card using Thankful Garden

It's been a while since I created a Bay Window card but they are such fun. This one uses the delightful new Lovely Garden DSP. I took inspiration form the colours in this sheet of DSP and paired Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and the new Secret Sky. I love the way Secret Sky is not quite as harsh as black, yet strong and clear for sentiments. These fabulous sentiments are from one of my current favourite sets - Mixed Labels. The flowers are easy to colur suing the masks and blending brushes, and the dies cut both the floral spray and the individual bloom.  Layering two circles together creates the little stopper  for the card to sit behind when you open it up so it stands for display. This gives a better view of the card opened and on display, of course they fold flat for posting. You can get all these beautiful products in my online store. Thankful Garden Hydrangeas

At this time of the year - when one set of In Colours ( group of 5 which has been around for 2 years ) is about to retire, I often find myself gravitating towards them to get the last little bit of use before they disappear from use. Well also it's to try and use them up to create space for the excitement of incoming colours ( early May ) I have really loved Pebbled Path as a solid and reliable cardbase. Here I have also used Boho Blue and Moody Mauve with the blending brushes to create the Hydrangea. I have also used some other retired products in the background papers. This beautiful image is from the new Thankful Garden suite, which includes the stampset, decorative masks, and dies. The masks are incredibly easy to use. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

CI#186 retiring In colours, Pop up card using Thankful Garden.

Time to say Farewell to this group of In Colours. I will miss Boho Blue and Pebbled Path - easily my favourites. Moody Mauve will also be missed but I have to admit I have rarely used Wild Wheat, and almost never opened Copper Clay, so I won't miss those. I know Wild Wheat has been popular with many, but it never really made it to the front row in my craft space! Though I didn't love Wild Wheat, I must say that blending blue and yellow (ie Boho Blue and Wild Wheat) to give green worked really well for the leaves in both these cards. I can't believe it took me two years to figure that out! Picture credit -  https://www.stampinup.com.au/products/2023-2025-in-color-jute-trim Our guest designer is Yvon Doensen. It's lovely to showcase cardmakers who have participated in our challenges. Be sure and check out her work and the other projects created by the Design Team. These cards were also a really nice opportunity to finish off a pack of DSP using up the background patterns...
