CI#186 retiring In colours, Pop up card using Thankful Garden.

Time to say Farewell to this group of In Colours. I will miss Boho Blue and Pebbled Path - easily my favourites. Moody Mauve will also be missed but I have to admit I have rarely used Wild Wheat, and almost never opened Copper Clay, so I won't miss those. I know Wild Wheat has been popular with many, but it never really made it to the front row in my craft space!

Though I didn't love Wild Wheat, I must say that blending blue and yellow (ie Boho Blue and Wild Wheat) to give green worked really well for the leaves in both these cards. I can't believe it took me two years to figure that out!

Our guest designer is Yvon Doensen. It's lovely to showcase cardmakers who have participated in our challenges. Be sure and check out her work and the other projects created by the Design Team.

These cards were also a really nice opportunity to finish off a pack of DSP using up the background patterns for these cards.
Pebbled Path makes a great card base and I will miss that.

The pop up mechanism is a simple box, decorated with DSP

The mat for writing your message is on the reverse.

I liked the softness of the hydrangea coloured just with the masks, but for the other flower spray I stamped the outline softly in Pebbled Path.

Since I had created so many floral elements while playing I decided to create a Moody Mauve version as well. Blending both Boho Blue and Moody Mauve produced some lovey shades. Again the leaves were the result of blending Boho Blue and Wild Wheat.

Conveniently, there is a die that cuts just the small flower from this spray, so that is what I used to decorate the pop up panel on the inside. Vanilla leaves were lightly blended with the residual blue and gold ink on the blending brushes.
And of course the reverse.

So which do you prefer? I quite like both of them, and the blue one has already been posted to a dear friend. We love to see what you create with the challenge colours. YOu can use one or as many of the 5 colours as you like, and You can also use all the basic shades. Share a Picture of your project on our facebook page. This challenge will run for 3 weeks so you've got some time to play.
Have fun with these colours while they are still with us.

I hope you have a creative week and remember,

 post something pretty!"
cheers, Liz

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. Picture credit - https://leahhopephotography.client-gallery.com/.../print... I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
