Colour INKspiration#08 pinks all around

Welcome to this week's bloghop - and of course it's not #08 - we're up to #18, how amazing!  What a gorgeous inspiration picture this week. It's not hard to be inspired by pinks, but the card I finished up with is nothing like what I had initially planned to make. I love the bricks, the mass of flowers, the pink and of course the vesper. This card uses a different technique which is not too tricky but takes a bit of practice using your own bigshot to work out the best thickness of layers. I was sent a gorgeous card using this technique by the talented Heather McCarthy after Onstage last year, and she actually entered that card in the very first Colour Inkspiration Pre-challenge when we first kicked off. She has a great video with the instructions and I'll post the link below. It involves using the So Detailed Thinlits Dies as an embossing folder rather than a cutting thinlit  [EDIT: Ok so I must confess I just discovered that these thinlits are now ...

CTC#133 and a happy accidental discovery

Welcome back for another week at CTC where we are casing the projects from pages 86-101. There were a few projects in here which inspired me but I want to take you on a little creative journey to where I ended up this week and a happy accidental new technique I discovered along the way. The aim of CTC is to take a project which inspires you from the catalogue and use it as a springboard for your creations. This week I used the card on the top left of this half of page 97.  I am a fan of layers and little clusters of elements and of stitching so all 3 of these things appealed in the love you more card here. My first card used the same background stamping tone on tone in the beautiful new Powder Pink, the word and heart from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits , the little roses from Swirly Bird and one of the gorgeous new Touches of Nature Elements - these wooden elements are natural timber on one side and white on the other - scrumptious! I poked a little bit of ribbon and...

Wood Words Card Swap Catalogue Launch samples #1

Wood Words is such a gorgeous set and I have had lots of fun playing with it. I used it for one of my Catalogue launch swaps in Fresh Fig, and made a set in all the incolours. I also did a simple and a stepped up version of each.  Stepped up version heat embossed in copper and images coloured in, Woodgrain strip and 2 layer sentiment To create the frame use a marker and the appropriate size square framelit., Draw the line with your marker in the matching colour. Use your aquapainter and pick up a bit of matching ink, paint a brush stroke of colour just inside your drawn border. Stepped up versions! Wood words was a favourite set at the launch. I'll have more samples from the Launch tomorrow. Thanks for looking, and remember  "don't just post online, post something pretty!" Liz
