Well it's World Card Making Day Saturday October 3 and I'll be away but I have made a card in advance to celebrate friendship and gratitude. I have used some of my all time favourite RETIRED sets and a bight colour combination of Night of Navy,  Melon Mambo,  Cucumber Crush Which are 3 of my favourite colours so I am going to enter it into Just Add Ink #281 I still love the detail the tiny tags add! In a bit of a rush today so just a quick post. "Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air".... A beautiful quote. Love this sketch from sweet Sunday sketches and I have CASED the fabulous Nikki Spencer with her water drop technique . I have been wanting to try this or a while and love how it turns out. I was inspired by this card of hers For my card I just kept sponging with multiple layers of colour..(coastal Cabana, baked brown sugar) and of course sunshine yellow in Daffodil Delight and some Early Espresso c'oredinations cardstock torn and textured for effect. Another in the collection I finished recently. Similar technique and same paper stack as the last one. Love that hexagon punch- have a few ideas for a regular square patchwork  next. The main difference with this one is that it sits in a flat frame, unlike #1 which has lots of depth with added buttons and bows etc. So to sit flat it needed a different foal point - hence the gratitude saying. The other main feature with this one is that I "aged" the white mat by sponging with Crumb Cake and some random stamping with the script and postcode images from the French Foliage set. Again I apologise for the poor photography but  I think you can get the idea.

Using up a few scraps. the card is Bordering Blue- long ago retired but I am a blue girl and still love it. I rolled the texture wheel over the blue scrap with blue ink.  The flower is not SU but the colours went well together with the Elegant Eggplant butterfly and the First Edition DSP . To get the shimmering butterfly I mixed a few drops of Elegant Eggplant reinker in the mini spritzer bottle with rubbing alcohol and 4 drops of the shimmer pain t and sprayed glossy paper (actually a sheet of photo paper) until it was covered. As the first layer of ink dried I added more layers and the effect was like marble- really pretty. I am sad the shimmer paint is retiring, I love it, a few drops go such a long way.  The sentiment is from Pursuit of Happiness which I also love. Sometimes scraps come together quickly. The Elegant Butterfly Punch often just ties everything together . Thanks for looking, Lillybet

The third folded card is an Easel and I can't find where i got the original measurements for this. I have an earlier version with Sale a Bration DSP also.  Pool Party keeps it nice and fresh  . The cardstock is 10.5cm wide x 29cm long. I marked 2cm along each long edge as a guide to where the score lines go to. Then it is scored at 2cm, 4cm and 16.5 cm from each edge into the 2cm guide line. Next it is scored between the 2cm guidelines at 14.5cm which is the centre fold ridge of the card. The stampin' Up Paper Trimmer is excellent for accurate scoring and cutting. The tricky part is to then make a cut along each 2cm guideline from the 2cm scoreline to the 16.5cm scoreline. It is then an easy matter to decorate with strips of DSP. I have 3 quite different looks just by switching papers. Hope you try this one it's fun!! For this Clockworks version I masked a strip with 2 pieces of plain paper and repeatedly stamped the clock, masking each watch shape so that they appear to overlap. I used the Stamp-a-Ma-jig to align the clock faces and hands.  The cogs and background stamps were used in Pool Party ink to fill the spaces. The remainder of the stamping was with the Woodgrain background stamp and the gorgeous script and splodges from French Foliage ( a favourite go-to set) The background is the Early Espresso Coredinations cardstock which is so easy to distress. I love it The feature watch also has a white embossed clock face which is sponged using emboss resist to make the numerals really stand out. This piece is raised on dimensionals. Text uses the "live in the sunshine" stamp from the Pursuit of Happiness set, and I have stamped the word moment using the cog from Clockworks, and one of the now retired alphabet sets. hope you can get some inspiration from this set too. have been playing with the great Clockworks set and have come up with a few different looks. i love the handy background stamps as they are easy to create a variety of looks with only one colour or can make a good cover using 2 or more dfferent shades.  The clockface is easy to use. i have experiemented with different options. My favourite is to emboss the numbers with white embossing powder then emboss resist sponge the face with Sahara Sand. Lastly I stamped the Watch case and embossed this with the Close to cocoa powder before cutting out the watch and attaching it with dimensionals. i have stamped the hands onto a scrap of double layer cardstock and cut them out also. For several of the watchfaces I have sponged first then added some shimmer paint using a sponge dauber. I also like the clockface sponged in a bright colour like Calypso Coral. For one of the clocks i have stamped onto Vellum Cardstock and cut out the face, either the full face or as a ring. Using...

Again there are beautiful Papers for Sale-a-Bration. So I have been playing around with them and have made a Centre Step Card, using the template and design from the tutorials on Splitcoast Stampers.
