Lillybet's Papers

I have never been a scrapbooker but every now and then I have a go.  This beautiful photo means a lot to me. The colours of dawn are beautiful. But the image calls me to remember the Courage, the Honour and the Sacrifice which represent the lives of so many, and which have been given for us that we may enjoy this life in this beautiful country. The watercolour panel is painted with Real Red, Calypso Coral and Powder Pink, with a hint of Night of Navy at the top. The white base has been coloured with Sahara Sand and a sponge roller, and I hope it has a slightly uneven feel to it, like sand in the desert. The embossing paste has been coloured with Sahara Sand ink and applied over the middle eastern looking mask. I figured the sand colour was appropriate. I stamped the sentiment onto one of the labels from the Delightfully Detailed Memories and More pack as I loved the coral Watercolour effect. The font is quite lovely from Make a Difference. My Father in Law is celebrating his 90th birthday this July and wanted a few cards to use as invitations for the get together. He came to Australia from England in the Merchant Navy  in the 1950's and still has a love of the Ocean so this challenge from Just Add Ink was perfect. I felt the High Tide was an appropriate stampset to use. I've also snuck in the compass image from Wherever You Go - I will miss this when it retires, I have loved the sunray image in this set too, but it just wasn't right for this card. The Celebrate looks embossed in the photos but it is actually debossed using the Retiring Celebrations Duo TIEF. To highlight the word I lightly sponged with Soft Sky to give the effect of clouds. I will miss both Soft Sky and Dapper Denim so it was good to use them for this set. I hope you have a creative week and remember, "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

ONLY 5 WEEKS till Christmas! Yikes! with so much happening at this time of year we have 2 colour schemes and 3 weeks to play along- sounds good to me!  I have chosen to go with the more traditional colour scheme of #23 but have tried to keep it simple and use some of my non christmas stamps! So I have used the gorgeous sunrays image from the Wherever You Go set, and the gorgeous red stars from the Stitched Felt Embellishments. At this time of year we all need to make use of shortcuts- and a ready embellishment works for me. I have 2 designs and used the crumbcake for the starlight on the first one, and real red for the second one layer card. The little sentiment flag comes from Teeny Tiny Sentiments which is an old favourite and go-to set for me and I only inked up the single word.  This is the alternative colour scheme which also appeals but I ran out of time this week.
