GDP #13 a Challenging colour Challenge

It's been so long since I was able to participate in a challenge but I have really enjoyed looking at all the entries each week in the Global Design Project. The design team are amazing and I have learnt quite a lot from the sidelines. But this week I'm just jumping in while I can. It's a colour challenge with old olive so a real Challenge for me as it's my least favourite green!  I have gone with some simple sponging and a random pattern using the large dots stencil sheet and a sponge dauber. The little flowers are stamped on vellum in real red, and the ink is on the reverse,  and the sentiment is from the Sheltering Tree set. I watched a You tube clip recently on making your own enamel dots from paper. (found the link, it was the Frugal crafter ), its' so easy and it worked! punch out small circles of paper, burnish them with your scoring tool into a dome then heat emboss them with 2 layers of clear embossing powder, bingo! Not sure if you can see the shim...

GDP#05 I'm tired of texting!

The colour challenge for this week is a beautiful soft combination and I am rushing to get finished before the deadline!!!! The rotary stamp makes it super easy to personalise your own message. I loved the swing card on Julie Davison's blog and have wants to try it so today is the day! You can find her tutorial here . 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Soft Sky cardstock 3" x 3" Whisper White cardstock for front (or size of whichever square framelit you use) 5" x 6" Whisper White cardstock, scored at 2" and 4" Thanks for looking, Liz

Halloween paper for All Sorts of Cards!

Who says Halloween paper has to be for Halloween cards? I recently purchased the Happy Hauntings set because I was intrigued by the orange stripe pattern shown in the catalogue behind one of the cards. I am not normally partial to orange but I am challenging myself. A few of the pages are specifically "Haunting"  types but most are just dots, stars, stripes and geometric patterns. Easy to use. We will be making two of these little Envelope Notecards in my class this weekend (and next Thursday). I still have a few spots if you would like to join in. Just get in touch with me. The card uses the envelope punch board and closes with a belly band. They are easy and different and you can make a few at a time. As you can see they are all different and quite versatile. Where there were any images that seemed too 'Haunting' I simply did what all paper crafters do with a blemish - i stuck something else over the top of it- either pape...

CTC#39 Project Life

Welcome to this weeks blog hop. I hope you are enjoying your trip around the crew of designers are CTC. You have probably come from the fabulous Helen's post, she always makes something inspirational. This week's challenge is to create something taking inspiration from the Project Life section of the catalogue. The idea is to take inspiration from anything- a colour combination, a layout, an element.... I haven't ventured into the world of project life scrapbooking (or any scrapbooking really!), so it was a challenge to find somewhere to start, but I do have a love for squares at the moment, and for geometry, so I was struck by the page layout  on the bottom right of the photo on page 54- the one with 3 squares down the middle. It's perhaps easier to see it from the image of the Variety Pack on page 145. I have used the layout on the bottom right - I think this would work well with "inchies" but I have made a very large card -6x6 for a f...

CTC#30 Graduation

Well luckily for me I am actually travelling to South Carolina for my nephew's Graduation from Clemson University. SO making a Graduation Card was not only a necessity but a good reason to make something extra special. You will have arrived here from Allison's amazing blog.  I used the colour inspiration from the Occasions Catalogue and created a double Easel Card (Another first for me) because I wanted the stars to be suspended in the Deco framelits frame. The gold doesn't show too well in the photos but believe me it sparkles!!! Congratulations Connor. This is a picture heavy post - but it's easier than writing the description! Gold Foil, Black Cardstock, Naturals White Cardstock, Confetti Star Border Punch, Medium star punch (retired) Stamp sets: Stylish Star (retired), Pictogram Punches, Chalk Talk, Good Greetings(retired) Gorgeous Grunge and Simply Wonderful (SAB). Gold and Black Embossing Powder I found some instructio...

JAI #258 a little bit of Blackberry Love with FMS#181

IThe challenge this week is a gorgeous colour challenge at JAI.  And I have teamed this with the sketch challenge at Freshl Made Sketches I have been experimenting with watercolour look backgrounds for my next class for Mother's Day and the Blackberry Bliss ink gives gorgeous colours with this technique. The background is the feature so minimal stamping and embellishments let it shone through. (I'm not sure my photography does it any justice here) I used the floral spray from Thoughts and Prayers, and the sentiment from Good Greetings. A little heart from Pictogram Punches i s highlighted with some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and the sequins are strawberry slush from the in colour sequins collection - I have to admit I have used these more than I imagined I would. A little bit of silver pen helped highlight the tiny bit of Smoky Slate stamping. Thanks for looking. Liz

Well I'm so pleased to be part of the We Stamp for Lara project which started on March 1st. It's a fabulous fundraising initiative for a fellow SU Demonstrator Madonna Dunn and her daughter. Valentine's influence for CTC# 17

The real Challenge  for me this week is to get everything done before The Handmade Markets on Saturday here in Rockhampton. But in the midst of making heaps of cards and tags and bits and pieces I have been inspired by CASEing The Catty Challenge#17 to use a prompt from  the Valentine's section of the new Occasions Catalogue on pages 4-9. I don't often do a clean and simple style but I was taken with the lovely card on page 9, and I have used the colour combo from the Stacked With Love DSP - Black, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Real Red.  I don't own the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits ( well not yet)  with the row of hearts, but I do have the Itty Bitty Punch Pack which I use ALL the time. So I punched out a row of hearts first and place some paper behind these, then I stamped and punched out lots more hearts using Pictogram Punches , and stuck these on to match the first row. To get a little touch of gold showing through the real red hearts I used a very sm...

CTC#16 using NEW DSP - Irresistibly Yours

The new Catalogue has such lovely products, and I am totally loving the Irresisitbly Yours DSP. - one of the Sale-A-Bration  products free with Purchases over $90. So I have chosen to use it for this weeks CASEing the Catty challenge #16. Bronwyn has such a beautiful card and I only just learned that you can stamp on the DSP before sponging or misting and it gives another layer to the paper. I saw this first by Carolyn Lindenmeyer whose blog is Carolyn's Card Creations . There is a video link which demonstrates this , and I too must thank  Linda Heller  (When the rubber Hits the Road)  for this idea I saw on her blog. Well of course I couldn't make only one card, but I am entering this first one into the Challenge. I cut the DSP to 12x24 cm since I am quite fond of square cards. I stamped the Dictionary Stamp as the background, then when I wiped off the Soft Suede Ink it filled in the background colour. To brighten it I then sponged Wisteria Wonder around ...
