Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder for a sunny Twisted Easel class, August 2025

The Twisted Easel card is one we've done in classes before but I thought it was a great design to show off this bright and sunny Sunflower. You can find links to instructions and more samples on the FANCY FOLDS page of this blog.( or in the search bar) But as a reminder, you need to score a diagonal fold line for the twist. Open the card and position it with the centre fold ( the spine ) running horizontal. Score from the Left at the centre fold to the top right.  You then need a second piece of card for your card front which you decorate. This will then adhere to only one of the triangles of the card front. You  can play around and decide which orientation works best for you. This version is landscape but you can also do portrait. For this card I used Two Tone Azure afternoon and regular A4 card base. The two shades of blue make nice layering mats.  Using the 3D folder emboss both an Azure Afternoon rectangle, and a piece of Daffodil Delight, positioning the Daffodil Car...

August Card Class Sunflower Embossing Folder cards - fabulous foil, and elegant vanilla

It's easy to emboss the envelope flap for that extra special touch.  I know it's no longer August, but I am finally sharing the cards we made at class. The Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder is simply amazing. You can create gorgeous cards very simply and that's exactly what we did. I have 2 samples here - one embossing a full panel of foil, and one using a full panel of white or vanilla. For some I added a leaf diecut from the Thankful Garden dies which is just the right size and shape for the size of the sunflowers. The Sentiment is from Sentimental Framing which is a really beautiful set. The same layout looks quite different created  in plain white or vanilla. the two tone cardstock gives a lovely variation to the leaves as well. So there you have 2 quite different looks, both very simple to put together. Next post will be the Twisted Easel using the Sunflower EF as well for quite a different look. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post on...

Square card with diamond fold using DSP for Card Class June 25, Impressions Abloom and Greetings for All make it super easy.

I recently posted a simple design for a card that uses more DSP than cardstock. The original design uses half a sheet of 12x12 and you can find the instructions and measurements on this post  from May 16th. It also contains the smaller measurements whih we made at class.  ( using piece 5 x 10"). I was able to source some square envelopes ( 14x14cm) which will fit this size card. Black and white work so well with a pop of a strong colour and I love these Strawberry Slush and Shy Shamrock versions. The smaller white square for the card front has been embossed so that the texture allows the white feature flower to stand out. I don't usually do black leaves but I love the effect here. The stitched flowers are from the Impressions Abloom dies and are quite a feature. These cards came together very quickly using sentiments pressed out from the pre printed sheets "Greetings for All" . The layout is the same but the different colours produce quite different looks. The only...

Pop up Frame Card with Wildflower Birthday for Card Class June 2025

What a wonderful time we had at class yesterday. Lots of fancy folds. This one was the trickiest but everyone created a beautiful card. We just took it step by step. You can cut the cardstock from one sheet of A4 cardstock. There are a number of steps to add the DSP. Then you cut a large and small circle to create the frames. We all put a little posy of flowers in the centre of the frame. It's such a lovely surprise when you open the card up. The belly band holds the card closed. You don't want this to be too tight. The gorgeous Wildflower Birthday Paper is so easy to use for these cards, and the press out elements make it easy to decorate. The boldest DSP is best at the back of the frames. This side view shows you the middle and front frames. This is the original video.  It is in German, but you can see the process and create along with Ingrid Hafner and this is Ingrid's link to the cutting diagram. I hope you give this a try, it's a very versatile card. Ingrid also ha...

Sliding Lock Mechanism Card with Grow with Love

Card Class June 2025 The Sliding Mechanism keeps the two side panels closed and creates a nice surprise. I love the Grow with Love stampset- it's an online exclusive but is so sweet with the gorgeous label image and die, lots of herb stamps and some sentiments. The coordinating dies are a bonus. Sadly it is now on the last chance list, so it is available until sold out. Here is the card open. You can see the sliding mechanism is the smaller stamped panel. The inside card in this sample is Strawberry Slush, and the card base is Misty Moonlight. I stamped the script stamp in Strawberry Slush (stamped off) and the Rosemary Thyme and Mint in Lost Lagoon. The DSP strips on the front side panels are Strawberry Slush to coordinate with the cardstock mats.  The printed sentiments from "Greetings for All" make it super easy to add a message to any card, and when the card is closed and locked this message is hidden. Here's the image of how the sliding mechanism looks. It is si...

Alice's Teapot card with clever Paper Hinge from our Stamping Retreat 2024

Well its' been such a long time since the retreat and I have been very slow to post Alice's gorgeous teapot swing card.  ( it uses a paper hinge, like a brad ) It was fabulous to create something with a very different construction. When I first saw this video I thought it would appeal to Alice's mathematical and precise brain so I sent it to her. OF course she didn't fail to amaze us with her creation. Since a picture paints a thousand words it's easiest to describe the method through this  video  clip which shows how it is done. I hope you can follow the link  - It's a Facebook Reel from KTCrafts. The trick is to be very careful not to adhere anything to the two flaps. In this card only the bow is adhered to the flaps so that they are hidden. It was a good way to tidy up the card front. I guess it's easiest to think of it as a "paper brad". It's a nice way to hide the teabag, or a hidden message or image. The top panel swings quite freely to r...

Enduring Beauty hello cards.

I have not been very good at posting the projects we have made at classes this year - and now it's past the Winter Solstice already and so the days should start getting longer again!  So here's a few projects from card classes earlier this year. This was a class using the fabulous Enduring Beauty Masks and blending brushes. No dies were used for this, and we didn't use the coordinating stampset - I wanted to show what you can do with just the decorative masks. There are 5 masks in total and although they are numbered 1-5, I tend to do all the flower parts in one go and then both of the leaf masks next. When you start your blending mark the location of the notch so you know where to position the next mask and which way to orientate it. You need to manually place it in the best position before you start adding ink. Some low tack tape is useful to hold the mask in place for this. MY two cards use Starry Sky and Lost Lagoon, and then Fresh Freesia and Lost Lagoon and I used Moo...

Perennial Lavender Squash Fold Card - February class

When you find a fun fold that is easy to make, has a big Wow factor and can be created quite quickly you know you are on a winner. The squash fold card is one that I have done quite a lot in recent times. It's especially good to show off all of our gorgeous papers. This is the version we made at February class. Some were made using Berry Burst as the base card. and some were made using Lost Lagoon as the base card. The DSP was the same for both.  You can find the instructions here .  Be sure to check the Fancy Folds Page on this blog ( click on the tab at the far right at the top of this page ) for a complete list of the different types of Fancy folds I have done over the years. There are links to all the instructions. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz
