I'm preparing for a card buffet this weekend as well as a technique class - it's going to be a full day of stamping and I'm quite excited! One of the best things about the catalogue is that it contains so many brilliant samples to inspire us, so this is a direct CASE from the annual catalogue on page 72. I have 20 kits of 2 cards each of this design prepared and ready to go for Sunday. (I have a choice of 10 kits, participants choose 4) I have done the watercolour "Smoosh" technique for the card front, and used the retired Naturals White for the card base. I love the softness of the colours - Pool Party has to be one of the best colours SU has ever invented! The sentiment is from Designer Tee - one of the cute Sale A Bration sets which won't be around for much longer! Can you believe it? I'm a guest designer??, and what gorgeous colours to play with. Thanks so much to Bronwyn for all her inspiration. I think this lovely combo is perfect for a mother's day card. I love watercolouring on Shimmery White cardstock, it gives such lovely fluid backgrounds. And of course you can stamp on them too, here I used the timeless textures while it was wet. And Gold simply has to be heat embossed, so once I had the gold butterfly it was easy to colour with a blender pen and Soft Sky ink. The gold glimmer washing tape from the sale-a-bration specials makes it so easy. The little flower is from the Rose Garden thinlits and was cut from shimmery white cardstock too. There's a little watercolour panel behind it but it needed some glitter to bring it to life! I love fresh flowers, I love giving flowers and I love having fresh flowers at home, but sending them can be problematic. A solution - send a flower pot card! The lucky recipient is sure to smile. These cute little cards fit in a regular envelope and have a strip of magnetic tape on the back so they could be put on the fridge. The panel with the flowers slides out for your message. The possibilities are endless for colour combinations and flowers. I have used Flower Shop and the coordinating pansy punch, and a variety of papers and colours. These are a few samples. I love the challenges at the Global Design Project and all the samples the design team create- it truly is a star studded crew of amazing designers from all over the globe. This week I am determined to be ready earlier than the 11th hour. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to recreate- modelled on a swap I did for Convention a few years ago - and since I am preparing for two coming craft fair markets it will go into my stash of square cards with coordinating envelopes (love my Envelope Punch Board) - sort of becoming my craft fair signature item. While not quick to create, this design is a great way to use up scraps- which is good if you struggle to throw out all your leftovers. The layers of different embossing folders and the random width of the strips is completely arbitrary so every card will look different.  You can lightly sponge the surface, like I have done here, or leave it plain. As promised here are a few more samples of the Half Circle pop up card from Julie Davison's design. You can see my original sample and a link to the instructions here . My daughter and all her friends are turning 21 so I have had the luxury of making lots of really special cards. These are for a few of the girls. I have used a mixture of papers old and new, and some non SU flowers, numbers and bits and bobs from my stash - "the useful box" as they used to call it on Playschool. The first card  meets the challenge criteria at JAI#272 to just add butterflies - and who can resist the Papillion Potpourri image. I have heat embossed it in black and coloured in with blender pens before punching three out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and then glamming them up a bit with some shimmer paint. Saturday June 13 saw 26 participants making cards and having a great afternoon raising funds for the Western Qld Drought Appeal. Many of the ladies had never tried card making but everyone had a lovely afternoon and went home with 4 cards they had made themselves. These were the cards I designed. Each table had a Stampin Up demonstrator from my little team guiding and assisting, and participants moved from table to table working at their own pace. My beautiful Mum and her cousin came up on the train from Nambour to Rockhampton to help and they ran the Crafternoon Tea buffet superbly.
