I've been away for my son's wedding and missed the launch of this latest Colour INKspiration challenge, but I had created quite a collection of cards for a Christmas Card Buffet so I switched out the colours to create this simple card using Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler and Pecan Pie. I do love to participate even if I'm late. YOu still have a chance to play along too. We love to see what you create with the colours. I love the mini punches and have used them quite a lot. I also love sparkle on my cards so there is a ton of Wink of Stella on the tree and the Stocking although it doesn't really show in the photo. The star is Foil from the Earthen Toned Metallic paper and has a gorgeous coppery feel to it. What an honour to be invited back to join with the Caseing the Catty team for their 500th challenge! Thankyou Bec for thinking of me. I started with the CTC crew way back at the beginning and I still go to the catalogue as a ready reference for creative ideas. The earliest post I can find is 2014 - CTC#3! 10 years of crafting along, that's pretty amazing. For this challenge it was completely open to choose any project to  CASE from either the annual or the Christmas mini catalogue. There are lots of projects in there that spark a creative journey for me and I did have a hard time choosing. In the end I opted for something simple since none of us have much free time at this hectic time of year. To make things a tad more difficult I have covid so feeling pretty low on energy. Lucky that crafting is a relaxing pastime and I can sit at my craft desk without be scolded too much by my loving DH that I need to be resting!  I love a quick and easy card, and using this gorgeous DSP as a background with some simple embellishments or a sentiment is one of the easiest ways to get the real "WOW" from the paper onto your card. I used the Decorative Trees dies to cut a tree from some Bright Pink Foil in my stash, and popped it up on a simple plain label. I also had some pink flowers in the useful box so they went on too - just enough to lift it. I didn't think it needed too much more, and a sentiment seemed unnecessary or distracting. The paper really is marvellous. This is the same principal, just slightly different tones - I was able to whip up 6 cards quite quickly. This weeks colour combination is so super striking. If you check out the Picture Credit link you will see a truly ornate Christmas setting. I love the effort that some people employ for decor. My own efforts are pretty simple by comparison, but I love looking at other people's ideas. At this time of year I love cards that are quick to create but still look luxurious. So this is a very simple card to pull together. At a recent crafting weekend in Bundaberg we created this easy fancy fold. I'm not sure what it is called but it reminds me of a squash book, which I have made a long time ago - so I'm calling it a "Squash Fold Card" ! It is another card which is great for using up DSP - and since I have such a lot of paper we used some from this retired selection. The colours and the gorgeous shimmer had a Christmas feel to me but any paper works well.  Cutting instructions: Cardbase  4 1/4 x 11     score at 4 1/4 and 5 1/2.  The 1/14 panel is glued close like the spine of a book - when the card is open the inside space is 4 1/4 square DSP 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 then trim at 1 1/8 to give a square 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 and a piece 4 1/8 x 1 1/8 5 7/8 x 5 7/8 square Cardstock coloured - cut 2 squares 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 white      - cut 2 squares 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 To fold the "squash book"  choose which side you want to be the most visible, start with this face up. We were focusing on Fancy Folds for the recent Christmas card class and I used the same Lovely Layout #2 ( see this post ) but switched to the Joy of Christmas paper  and changed it to an easel card. I chose the Sweet Sorbet cardstock for a fresh take on the traditional Christmas red and green palette. This great layout uses 2 pieces of DSP - one 3 x 3 inches and one 4 x 2 inches. You can alternate which piece is forward and which is behind depending on the pattern on each piece and which one looks best as the feature. Add a stamped sentiment and a feature element to finish off your layout. I cut some gorgeous pine fronds and some holly leaves from some "painted" green paper in my stash. The holly leaves were cut from a sheet of watercolour paper which I coloured with both Shaded Spruce and Old Olive.
