CI#34 Retro streetscape inspiration

Welcome back for another round of Colour INKspiration. I love the inspiration picture, but I have to admit I struggled with this combination! In the end I am quite happy with the final result- but quite a few options did land in the scrap bin! I have used the fabulous Waterfront set- I'm so glad this is carrying over, as well as the Love Life set for the sentiment inside. The sentiment on the front and the little heart inside come from the Tabs for Everything set. I find this unassuming little set really comes in handy.  The yellow paperclip is a one of those bits and bobs that fill my stash of embellishments- you never know when one is just going to be perfect. I do love the feeling in this sentiment. It sums up a lot of essential truth I think. Next on the hop this week is Bronwyn , I'm always intrigued to see what everyone creates- especially when the colours have really been a challenge for me. I hope you have a creative week and remembe

CTC 179- An Old Favourite Kit with some New Colours

HI and welcome again to the CASEing the Catty bloghop. With the New Catalogue and New Colours coming out we are saying goodbye to some favourite products from the catalogue, including all the kits. When I had a look at the existing kits I came back to the one that I liked best the first time I flicked through the catalogue - I think it's because I love watercolour. I have CASEd this card before but  still love it so I've enjoyed doing it again but with some new colours.   I have CASEd the card in the middle of this kit.  Here's the CASE from last time. You can see more detail on this post The 5 new colours are lots of fun to watercolour with. This time I have kept it very simple, no extra layers, no twine. The flowers are layerd up on a few circles of punched cardstock, and the silver circle and halo was a happy accident- the first silver circle was too big and when I punched down a size the halo fell out of the punch and I loved the look!. Watercolour Holiday Memories

Hello. I have been having fun with the Waterfront Stampset and trying to create a few picture cards inspired by our recent New Zealand cycling holiday..... well late February is still recent for me. These cards have been in progress for a while .... We went to the South Island of New Zealand and cycled the Alps to Ocean trail over 5 days. It was absolutely wonderful and the scenery was glorious. Cyclone Gita caused an unseasonal snow fall on the mountains around Lake Tekapo and the colours were picture postcard everywhere we looked. Truly a holiday to remember.  It's not easy to capture the real colours but I had fun playing. Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo This was 10 of us out of the 14 on the trip. We had jerseys made for Greg's birthday. They were quite a talking point. lunch stop at Lake Omaru   We were riding on trails for almost all of thee trip which was so much less stressful than riding on roads. I am glad this set is carrying over to the ne

CI#33 Rustic Honey Bouquet

Such gorgeous colours- and while the inspiration picture is quite rustic I have given it a slightly more modern feel- thanks to one of my new favourite bundles- the Varied Vases designed by Mary Fish. Super cute. I have to say at the outset that the inspiration for this card came from an image on a blog hop somewhere. You can see the video by Aude Barbara  here - it's in French but you can easily follow along.  I generally create from a blank start but sometime the business of life takes over and we all need a little CASeing every now and then to achieve our deadlines ( and keep our sanity!). Life seems to have been busier than usual lately here, so hope you'll forgive me for caseing the technique but the layout is definitely "me". Auda uses only a blender pen and Watercolour Paper. My pen must be a bit dry because I was unable to get the same coverage using just the ink from the stamped image. I used the blender pen but also used some additiona

Just Add "O" for Ocean and several O's for a 90th

My Father in Law is celebrating his 90th birthday this July and wanted a few cards to use as invitations for the get together. He came to Australia from England in the Merchant Navy  in the 1950's and still has a love of the Ocean so this challenge from Just Add Ink was perfect. I felt the High Tide was an appropriate stampset to use. I've also snuck in the compass image from Wherever You Go - I will miss this when it retires, I have loved the sunray image in this set too, but it just wasn't right for this card. The Celebrate looks embossed in the photos but it is actually debossed using the Retiring Celebrations Duo TIEF. To highlight the word I lightly sponged with Soft Sky to give the effect of clouds. I will miss both Soft Sky and Dapper Denim so it was good to use them for this set. I hope you have a creative week and remember, "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

Using up some gorgeous DSP for some thankyou cards #Loveit Chopit.

I received a gorgeous Thankyou card a while ago by the very talented Angela Meiritz-Reid in New Zealand. ( fromt eh CASEing the CAtty Design Team). I loved the layout she used to show off this stunning sheet of DSP from the Sweet Soiree set which is retiring soon. I needed a stack of thankyou cards so I have gratefully CASED Angela. I had quite a few partial kits in my stash and have used up some of those tags for the sentiments as well as current and retired ribbon and finished off some spools of embroidery thread. A very satisfying stash of cards all round. I do try to use up retiring paper - but if you looked at my boxes you would not say I was successful at it! The feature panel is 31/2" x 51/4" The behind panel is 3 3/4" x 51/2" or whatever size panels you can create from your pieces. I used Calypso Coral for these bases, and some random pieces of coordinating DSP for the base. The DSP is so pretty that I used the remaining strips to fin

CTC#177 Which Favourite retiring product to Feature??

With all the excitement of the new catalogue I always have a little tinge of sadness as some of our favourites retire to make room for the New. There are so many sets retiring that I couldn't choose just one. My card this week uses lots of threes. Three of the retiring colours - Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum and Dapper Denim. One of the new greens has the same intensity as Emerald but I'm really really sad about Dapper Denim.  Three badges: using the Badges and Banners set- I really love this punch as a background for focal points and sentiments, I will miss this fabulous tool. And the third "Three" is the 3 pansies stamped with Flower Shop and punched using the Pansy Punch. From framed 3D art to countless cards I have really loved this punch.  I won't be selling this pair in the near future. Here's a few of my favourite projects using this punch.
