I have always loved a 3D frame and try to create a sampler each time there is a new catalogue. The Needlepoint Nook suite lent itself to this quite easily. A friend gave me a stash of goodies from a well loved sewing room which included these gorgeous thread wheels and lots of tiny timber spools of cotton, I have had some in a jar as part of my kitchen decor but moved them to this new home. Included in the stash was a beautiful button which inspired the handmade birdsnest in both frames I have made using the Cathedral Window style. There are a few squares using the embroidery panel from the thinlits, some fussy cut floral embroidered flowers, and a few things I love. It is based on the Cathedral Window quilt pattern and the circles of DSP are all Mossy Meadow, punched using a 2" punch, the squares are 1 3/8" and they are all raised on either a single or double layer of dimensionals or thick card. Last week for CASEing the Catty we used the section for Natures' Poem and I was inspried by a few things in the Catalogue. One of them was the mosaic style of card using stamped images on page 152. I used to make a lot of Patchwork style cards and since my crafting mojo has been a little low lately I find it helpful to go back to styles I used to like. So patchwork styles reappeared in my vision and I had always wanted to try a cathedral windows style. This is what I ended up with - eventually! I punched out 2" circles of patterned paper and cut squares of woodgrain or plain card to 1 1/4", and folded the edges of the circle over the squares. Getting them all lined up in the grid took a little time but I like the spacing which also allowed me to decorate the edges using some of the fabulous copper vinyl stickers from the Tea Room Copper stickers. Hi there, today I wanted to share a quick tip with using the Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP(144125). This is a heavy weigth kraft card with foil designs printed on the paper - random spots, stripes and a chevron pattern. You get 4 colours in the pack - Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Tangerine Tango and Soft Sky. I love the kraft card but did you know you can sponge and stamp on the card to change the kraft colour? too easy and such a great effect. I am not a huge fan of Lemon Lime Twist (I know, I'm in a minority) but I wanted to participate in the Just Add Ink challenge and my friend Lou Kitzelman on the design team commented on one of my other posts that she hoped I would come to love this colour so I have given it another shot!!  I don't love it on its own but it is quite gorgeous combined with Tranquil Tide, so I have watercoloured a strip using both, and stamped the leaves from Painted Harvest using both and then I took a strip of the Foil DSP and whacked the inkpad down t...

Welcome back for CTC#135 which focuses on the Holiday section of the catalogue. I know I should think about getting ready but I just can't do the whole Christmas in July thing! However, I did like a few layouts in this section and have gone with a simple layout - which is in the banner picture this week - and a brand new set which has been on my wishlist since I first saw it in the catalogue. That cute little pink border is from one edge of the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch . I love that you can use either the lacy looking edge or this more simple small scallop. If you are tossing up between the ticket edge punch then this one might be an alternative because it gives you 2 options for quite different looks. I love versatility. Thankyou Stampin' Up!
