Perennial Lavender Squash Fold Card - February class

When you find a fun fold that is easy to make, has a big Wow factor and can be created quite quickly you know you are on a winner. The squash fold card is one that I have done quite a lot in recent times. It's especially good to show off all of our gorgeous papers. This is the version we made at February class. Some were made using Berry Burst as the base card. and some were made using Lost Lagoon as the base card. The DSP was the same for both.  You can find the instructions here .  Be sure to check the Fancy Folds Page on this blog ( click on the tab at the far right at the top of this page ) for a complete list of the different types of Fancy folds I have done over the years. There are links to all the instructions. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

Christmas Fancy Fold Class - Squash Fold Card

At a recent crafting weekend in Bundaberg we created this easy fancy fold. I'm not sure what it is called but it reminds me of a squash book, which I have made a long time ago - so I'm calling it a "Squash Fold Card" ! It is another card which is great for using up DSP - and since I have such a lot of paper we used some from this retired selection. The colours and the gorgeous shimmer had a Christmas feel to me but any paper works well.  Cutting instructions: Cardbase  4 1/4 x 11     score at 4 1/4 and 5 1/2.  The 1/14 panel is glued close like the spine of a book - when the card is open the inside space is 4 1/4 square DSP 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 then trim at 1 1/8 to give a square 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 and a piece 4 1/8 x 1 1/8 5 7/8 x 5 7/8 square Cardstock coloured - cut 2 squares 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 white      - cut 2 squares 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 To fold the "squash book"  choose which side you want to be the most visible, start with this face up. Interactive Card Class Card #2 Squash Fold Card

I was asked to do a class using interactive cards or designs that were more interesting than the simple basic card. Since I always struggle knowing when to stop it's no surprise that of course I took the challenge and amplified it to not 1 but 3 interactive designs. The class was lots of fun and this is one of the projects we made. This is the front when it is folded This is the inside when it's opened This is the way it folds flat - squashing in on itself This is a squash fold card and I used the  brilliant tutorial from Lyssa Zwolanek  at Song of My Heart Stampers. My card is a square of cardstock 21cm x 21 cm Score in half at 10.5cm each way to create 4 squares  score one diagonal fold from corner to corner DSP is 4inches square - nice and easy with 12 x 12 DSP ( 9 pieces per page) ribbon is approx 40cm- anchored only on the front under the banner. Song of My Heart sample  This version is the same design but using different DSP fr...

Squash Book Class

Some time ago we made a squash book in class and I promised to publish the dimensions for everyone. Life, study, the markets and work have all intervened but at last here they are. (trying to cross off some of those half finished things on my list!!!) Squash books make a great gift and are not too difficult to make but they do have a WOW factor. They are beautiful for new babies, Christmas with photos from the year, birthdays, and great as a card for a going away gift where you need lots of people to sign it ( I make these for staff leaving us) There are lots of video clips out there under "squash book" and I watched quite a few and tried some of the tips, this was the best method for me. You will need 3 squares of base cardstock cut to 8x8" (we used Crumb Cake) 2 squares of firmer card for your book covers cut to 41/4 x41/4" 2 squares coloured cardstock 33/4" x 33/4" (these are 2 of the mats where you add your photos and are optional, we used...
