Hello and welcome to the Merry & Bright Social Stamping blog hop with Kelly. It's been such a crazy year I thought I would share some Christmas Cards created with a bright and crazy colour scheme to bring some cheer! These are some cards I made as samples for my Christmas Card Class to show some alternative ways to use the Merry and Bright Stamp set which was included as part of the kit for the class. Some of the designs are CASED directly from Pinterest and you may have seen them around. They include a few different techniques. For the Magenta card I have applied the ink using a dauber directly to the stamp before stamping. By using the Stamparatus you can add more layers of ink to increase the intensity. To create the layered circles behind you need to cut 2 circles of each colour ( in 2 different sizes- pair the largest and smallest circles together, and then pair the 2 sizes in between)and you will end up with 2 card layouts.  In this layout the semi-circle layers are besid...

Gosh the weeks have flown, and we're back again. And what a fabulous colour combination we have for you this week. Sometimes a big colour palette can be daunting so for this one I broke it down into the individual colours. I have CASEd several cards you will have seen in the catalogue using tone on tone stamping. It's a fabulous way to spotlight the individual colour. We'll be using the "Lovely You" stampset at classes this weekend so I was creating some samples showing its versatility. It's a simple way to create an embellishment panel. I like the look with the ends uneven but you may prefer a square edge. You can also die cut any shape from your finished piece. One of the nicest things is to receive a handmade card in the mail. This week I received a really special one, and it made my day, and reminded me to write some of those cards which I have been intending to send. So created this one for a lovely friend of mine using lots of new goodies. The lovely lacy heart has been cut twice and layered up on itself to create a bit more of a feature, and the ombre colouring effect is highlighted by matting it on the black, which wasn't what I thought I would use with the soft pinks but I like the impact, and it is strengthened - I think- by the base mat colour to match. Of course I always add a little accent to the inside, the champagne foil and DSP are mirrored from the card front, and the lovely sentiments match perfectly from the Incredible Like You set.  I am entering this card in a few challenges, Just Add Ink#440, adding something new, Addicted to CAS, codeword friend and a challenge I've just discovered Stamp Ink ...

Firstly, just a little sneak peak - I was blown away when I was asked to be a presenter at Onstage and was given the gorgeous Needlepoint Nook suite to present. Here is one of my cards which does meet this week's challenge- it uses Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst and the beautiful Needle and Thread stamp set. I am posting the other samples each day this week, and you'll find them all on my Pinterest board too. But you can see more of that in another post. (I have been writing up all my Needlepoint Nook projects this week so you can check the Pinterest board etc)    Because that's not the project I made for this week's blog......  It's my birthday this week and would you believe I have actually made a mini album with some special photos from my birthday 4 years ago!!! I never seem to get to the end of the pile of leftovers, but these three stamped floral pieces have been calling me for a while.  They are from the Touches of Texture stampset and I think they pair nicely with the diamond quilted background. I am still missing Dapper Denim from the colour palette but that's ok, I have a little stash! I'm going to enter this in the Addicted to CAS challenge.  I think this fits with minimal embellishments and not too many layers (tricky for me because I love layers!) I also had the gorgeous bird, a glimmer circle  and a some retired island Indigo cardstock and ribbon lying together, waiting for some attention. And lastly there was a potplant needing some focus - luckily my DH looks after the real potplants around here! This one has been posted and hopefully brightened someone's day! Every now and then I have an urge to clean up some of those bits and pieces that are lying around after previous projects. (so I can make room for new things with a clear conscience!!) Also I end up with lots of half finished projects because things don't work the first time,  or I cut more than I need,  or leftovers from classes, or retired pieces that I still love etc...... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I had a pyjama day yesterday and everything seemed to flow quite well  and I was able to create quite a stash of simple notecards. I think I can enter this for the Inspire.Create.challenge theme of Celebration. I was certainly celebrating that it was a very good day that I was productive that I cleared a lot of bits and pieces off my desk and that I ended up with 19 notecards to send to friends. I received a gorgeous Thankyou card a while ago by the very talented Angela Meiritz-Reid in New Zealand. ( fromt eh CASEing the CAtty Design Team). I loved the layout she used to show off this stunning sheet of DSP from the Sweet Soiree set which is retiring soon. I needed a stack of thankyou cards so I have gratefully CASED Angela. I had quite a few partial kits in my stash and have used up some of those tags for the sentiments as well as current and retired ribbon and finished off some spools of embroidery thread. A very satisfying stash of cards all round. I do try to use up retiring paper - but if you looked at my boxes you would not say I was successful at it! The feature panel is 31/2" x 51/4" The behind panel is 3 3/4" x 51/2" or whatever size panels you can create from your pieces.
