Colour INKspiration #45 A Birthday Mini Album

Firstly, just a little sneak peak - I was blown away when I was asked to be a presenter at Onstage and was given the gorgeous Needlepoint Nook suite to present.
Here is one of my cards which does meet this week's challenge- it uses Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst and the beautiful Needle and Thread stamp set. I am posting the other samples each day this week, and you'll find them all on my Pinterest board too.

But you can see more of that in another post. (I have been writing up all my Needlepoint Nook projects this week so you can check the Pinterest board etc)

Because that's not the project I made for this week's blog......

It's my birthday this week and would you believe I have actually made a mini album with some special photos from my birthday 4 years ago!!! (Not getting any faster as time ticks on!)
It was lovely to reminisce. A very close friend and I did a little road trip. One of those beautiful friends who instantly makes you feel special, so the photos instantly make me laugh and remember the conversations and adventures we shared.
Top left is the Album closed and tied with some wide organza ribbon.
I'm actually hopeless at even choosing which photos to feature, and I did print these some time ago, so its' been a steady process.....
I have created a mini album on the same style and dimensions as one I did recently. I'll add the link to the tutorial at the end of this post.
It's super easy and I used only one In Colour- Lemon Lime Twist, with black and white.
I have used predominantly cards from various Memories and More packs.
I have quite a few packs since I always have good intentions of making up the albums, but never quite get to the finish line. So I went through and selected all the cards with just lemon lime twist or black and white, and added in some scraps of DSP in the same colours.
I had printed the photos in a multi frame format so most of them were 2 x 3 inches- a great size for this album.

Some great things about this mini album:
  • quick and easy to put together
  • allows you to use up M&M cards for the journalling pages
  • great idea for a farewell or thankyou card when there are a large number of people to sign the card
  • terrific as a Christmas card - journal recipes, christmas traditions, countdown, advent etc
  • great for a graduation card - photos of school journey, can journal positive messages for a bright future.
  • looks complicated when it's not
  • everyone loves a mini-album
  • can add as many pages as you need.
This mini album might be just the ticket to get me going with my other photos - or with all those M&M cards!!
In fact I have made several (and will have them at the Christmas markets), check back later this week for some more pictures.

Here's the first one I made as a farewell card. You can find the measurements and instructions on this page

Thanks so much for hopping along today, be sure and check the other inspiration pics from the rest of the design team, and don't be shy- show us a photo of what you have made using these colours. Jump onto our Facebook page.
Next on the hop this week is Nicole. I had such a lovely time at ONSTAGE catching up with so many demonstrators, maybe that should be my next mini album????

I hope you have a creative week and remember,
"don't just post online,
 post something pretty!"

cheers, Liz

  1. Wow Liz. This is sensational. Well done you for not just thinking about making it (the stage I never get past) but actually making this gorgeous album. I love the alternate ideas you gave for this album too. You're inspired me .... to at least break the plastic on my M & M packs and sort out for some albums. Fabulous job! x

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. Funky Folds Blog Hop= a Bay window card using Country Flowers

Well it's been a very long time since I participated in a blog hop - and it feels good to be participating in a FUNKY FOLDS hop. You may have come from Jan McQueen's creation, or you may be starting here. Be sure and hop all the way around. I do love Fancy Fold cards and of course with a new catalogue and new products it is fun to be creating again. I have a big weekend retreat coming up in a few weeks and we are using the Country Flowers Stamp set so I am creating a swag of samples. Since time is such a precious commodity for all of us I am using some old favourite folds with new products - a whole new lease on life. For this week's hop I am revisiting the Bay Window Card. The front tri-panel piece bends forward and tucks in behind the little anchor which is fixed to the inside. Your card will stand up unaided. This is it with the edge tucked under the anchor. You can find the measurements and instructions and several previous samples on these pages. Today's card featu

CTC#116 Inspired by Pages 20-31

Welcome back of another week of CTC. This week we are CASEing quite a big section of the catalogue-pages 20-31, which includes the Oh So Succulent suite. I love the succulent set but need a lot more time to play with it. (I'm sure you can all relate to that!) I also love little square notecards like the one on page 31, so I had a little play and this is what I came up with. This week I've done the step it up system again. This is a lot of fun and a process which can help you analyse your own style and how to adapt that for classes or workshops to appeal to a wider range of styles. This week I am stepping it up from simple stamping directly onto the notecard, then building on that with another colour, added layers and embellishments. Although the twine doesn't carry through from the base card it needed a little bit of black to tie them all together.
