Welcome back- the weeks are really flying by now in the rush to the end of the year. I have a quick project today  - the set of cards created to meet a post office deadline. The challenge this week is to CASE something from the page of your age- or an age you'd like to be. My acutal age didn't really have anything inspiring, so the ages I would like to revisit are my mid 30's- our youngest child was a terrible baby and I had virtually no proper sleep for 2 years so I don't have many clear memories of the other kids at this age. I'm sure if I coudl revisit those years I'd really enjoy it this time around! Have you noticed the projects in the Catalogue with the  Quick and Easy   symbol? They are great go-to layouts, so I have CASED the one on page 37 a coloured card base the same colour ink for stamping a line image over the corner of some DSP - or a memories and more card a second mat in a contrasting colour lay the mats offset on the coloured card b...

I'v had a lovely day today catching up on some crafting - well a lot of crafting really!! I haven't had much time to play along with some of my favourtite Sketch Challenges but I love the simplicity of this one so it was easy to whip up a card or two- especially since I had most of the elements already cut. The lattice strip in the flourish thinlits is one of my favourite elements and I use it very often. It is so elegant and simple yet very detailed. White and Crumb Cake are the perfect match. I thought the gold dragonfly needed to be grounded to the card base so I heat embossed the little dots from Awesomely Artistic with the gold powder.   And the only Pool Party DSP I could find for the envelope liner is from a very old Sale-A Bration set- I'm so glad to have found a good use for it - don't you love using up lost pieces! I had the pleasure of attending the Confirmation Ceremony of our goddaughter last week, so I needed a special card for this beautiful girl.   Steffi's cards are always simple but stunning so CASEing her cards seemed perfect for this occasion. Awesomely Artistic was a great background stamp for just a hint of pink - well sugarplum actually - and the Copper Embossing worked a treat. I also stamped the flowers onto a spare piece of Shimmer paper, heat embossed the cross in copper and cut that out to lay on top. A copper dove and some thread to finish off and a simple message inside. thanks for looking, I hope you get some time to be creative today, Liz

So I have had the pleasure of making a milestone birthday card for one of my beautiful sisters and the Large Numbers Framelits Dies were so handy. The gold foil looked fabulous and I was really happy with the gorgeous marble paper (retired, SAB- Perfectly Artistic DSP )to put behind it. I have used lots of different elements to create this including the World Traveler Textured Embossing Folder, the deco labels framelits, the fabulous Party Popup Thinlits Dies  for the inside. She makes the most gorgeous pop up cards so the inside had to be a little bit special too. Hers are much more elaborate moving creations but I think she'll like this coming from me! There is a touch of Artistically Awesome on the base layer too, some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for the heart and some gold cord. This is the same layout and materials, just a slightly different assembly, but how different are these two. I will have this card at my card buffet tomorrow night so people can choose which occasion they would like to use the card for. The birthday option is stamped in Wild Wasabi, and then clear embossed directly over the first image, with a tiny bit of sponging in the Wasabi.  The third colour is Rich Razzleberry. Welcome back to the Friday bloghop around the CTC crew. I struggle with making Christmas cards so far out from November (OK I know it's not really that far....) However I had fun making this week's entry. I focused on the layout on the top left of the front page of the section. (page 67 in the catalogue) I love the wreath options in the stampsets available now and the matching Framelits but sadly I don't own either of them so I had to create another wreath. I like to find alternative uses for stamp sets I already own, and the beautiful set Awesomely Artistic is perfect for this. Using both the fern images and one layer of Mint Macaron and one of Garden Green I laid down a nest of ferns around a circle I had drawn in pencil. These images work really well for this because they are both already curved images.  This is a technique I have done in Christmas cards in the past and it works quite well, you can see some older samples  here  - one using Gorgeous Grun...

As promised here are a few more samples of the Half Circle pop up card from Julie Davison's design. You can see my original sample and a link to the instructions here . My daughter and all her friends are turning 21 so I have had the luxury of making lots of really special cards. These are for a few of the girls. I have used a mixture of papers old and new, and some non SU flowers, numbers and bits and bobs from my stash - "the useful box" as they used to call it on Playschool. The first card  meets the challenge criteria at JAI#272 to just add butterflies - and who can resist the Papillion Potpourri image. I have heat embossed it in black and coloured in with blender pens before punching three out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and then glamming them up a bit with some shimmer paint. The second sample has no butterflies but a really cute little birthday cake of flowers from Blooming with Happiness.  This gorgeous stamps set is sadly retired, but ...

This week we are inspired by the projects in the Love and Sympathy section of the catalogue. This was hard because there are just so many beautiful inspiration pics in this section, however I was immediately drawn to the picture on page 25 the very first time I saw it. I have to say however, that this was not an easy card to CASE. I used the Awesomely Artistic Set and substituted a few elements. I don't have those lovely label Framelits so I punched each strip with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch on either end and then trimmed the stamped layer back a little. I did't want to use a do...
