CI#49 colours all in a row

Welcome back again for a Colourful look at 2019. How is it February already????
We are starting the Challenge year with a gorgeous happy colour combination. I love these bright colours-although the inspiration photo gives them a pastel appearance, welcome to the hop for Colour INKspiration #49

I loved the row of houses and decided to do my colours all in a row as well using a very unassuming stamp from the Incredible Like You set. I think it's supposed to be the centre of a flower? but I just stamped it randomly as a dot and then lightly sponged a little of the same ink over the top for a bit more depth.

I wonder how many other sets I've got where I haven't used an image as much as it could have let me? Challenges are a great way to look at your supplies with new eyes. And I just love how all the design team members start with the same inspiration and end up with so many varied results. We'd love to see what you create too with these colours , so pop a photo onto our Facebook page.

After I stamped and sponged the panel I used the wonderful new Well Written Framelits Dies to cut out the Birthday- I was going to just let the black show through from behind but instead I cut a separate black word and adhere it into the negative space. It looks complete because I put each of those fiddly centre pieces ( the middle of all the loops) into the corresponding spaces in the black word. I can assure you it would have looked quite wonky if I had tried to put them in place freehand. It wasn't as fiddly as it sounds but only because I used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets before I cut the word out. I can't recommend these enough when using detailed cutouts like these. The sheets are exceptional value because you get so many in a pack.

Once I had cut out the colourful word I had to use it also- but a much more simple treatment seemed more appropriate. These new Framelits are an investment but there are so many practical words and some gorgeous decorative pieces in the set it's a really wonderful addition to any crafters supplies. I was lucky enough to win the Well Said Stamp Set at Onstage but this is really the first time I've used it. There are heaps of possible word combinations.

I hope you get a chance to play with these gorgeous colours this fortnight, they will make your day happy.

Next this week is Erin from across the ditch, she has a birthday card too with a different approach to the colours.

I hope you have a creative week and remember,

CTC #215 SUPER SWEETNESS

Welcome back for another week examining the catalogue for inspiraiton. This week we are using pages 14-23 for our creative stimulus. I just couldn't go past the cheerful bright colour palette of the How Sweet It Is suite and used those colours and the predominance of stripes in the DSP as my starting point.
We're away from home for my niece's birthday, and true to form I wasn't quite ready prior to leaving- and I didn't pack all my intended supplies to create my intended card. ... But "necessity is the mother of invention" as Erin's great grandmother used to say so I made a few changes to my original plan.

Coastal Cabana, Pineapple Punch, Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green look so scrumptious together. The layering letters are easy to use and I love that her name is short enough to fit on a card front!!  The  different colours make a strong stripey impact. The large number dies are retired but one of the most useful sets of framelits that SU have produced so they will remain part of my set of staple products. I love the numbers cut from the Dazzling diamonds glimmer paper. The pins are not Stampin' Up! products but they are part of the rather large collection of embellishments which I have decided to use rather than hoard, or save for a special occasion - and Erin is certainly special enough to use them for!  I also added the epoxy hearts but have since used the marker to outline them as I did for the inside.
My original plan was to colour the balloons, but since I forgot the coloured inkpads (dopey me) I decided to do some paper piecing instead.
To do this you stamp the image on each of the coloured card pieces and cut out the individual shapes. That's a little tricky with circles! So to cover any imperfections I went around the shapes with my journaling pen, and used Wink of Stella all over. I like the marker around the epoxy hearts and will apply that same treatment to the front. Since the image takes up so much space I'll write her message on the inside flap.

Next up this week is Shannon and her lovely amazing as you card.

Don't forget we love to see what you create. So click around the bloghop for some other wonderful inspiration ideas then get busy creating a project also inspire by these pages. Pop a photo of your project on our Facebook Page.

A girl can never have too many flowers!! GDP#175, and SUO#216

The gorgeous new floral Romance Suite is delightful and I'm amazed at how beautiful the framelits are - I really shouldn't be amazed because all the SU products are such wonderful quality, but there is something extra lovely about this set. I love the detail cutting out the tiny pieces between the sprigs of foliage.

Here's the card recipe

  • Heat embossed the image onto watercolour paper with white embossing powder
  • watercoloured using my aquapainter with Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, and Berry Burst inkpads and Fresh Fig Marker for the sprigs
  • cut a rectangle stitched framelit for a panel of navy from the card sets
  • embossed with polka dot basics.
  • dragging technique with the navy inkpad
  • sentiment and framelit from wood words for the tag
  • remnant of Melon Mambo ribbon and strands from white hemp ribbon

I am entering this in the challenge at the Global Design Project #175

and at Stampin' Up! Only
 SUOC:216 Flowers

I have lots more ideas using this set and need to give up work so I can get a proper return on my investment in new products!!
Or at least clear off my desk so I can start again- hehe- I know you know what I mean!
