Lillybet's Papers

Seems a perfect topic for me!!  Basic instructions from Stampin connection. My dimensions are slightly different- I simply cut a pice of A4 cardstock across its width at 31/2" and scored and 31/2, and 7 inches. The inside piece is 5 inches by 21/4. in this way you can get 2 flowers pots from one sheet of A4 paper and it will fit nicely in a C6 envelope. The flower Pot card has been around for a long time but I wasn't yet a SU convert at the time it was very popular so I have really enjoyed making these today- they have been on my "to do " list for a while. I have used Cajun Craze as my base card and where there didn't seem to be enough texture to the base I have stamped in versa mark using the Clockworks background stamp. I used a variety of Ribbons/twine old and new and some retired buttons for decoration on the closure. To decorate the lip of the pot I have used a variety of embossing folders. I do love the Clockworks stampset and there are some great samples out there - I cased this card from one I saw on Pinterest  here . I love the colours used but changed it up a bit. I also discovered some old metal rim tags that were a stampin up product in the past and they were perfect for the clock. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig I was able to get the numbers placed centrally. They are heat embossed with the Pewter Powder and on some of the clocks I sponged a little shimmer paint to give them a nice Patina. A simple brad in the centre of the Hands adds a little more dimension. Gumball Green. Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard, Smoky Slate and Tempting Turquoise was my colour palette. cheers, Liz

Have been trying to get ahead with some Father's Day cards- this is what we made at the last class. I used the great new set Timeless Talk and stamped the image twice- once in Stazon black and once with Versamark which I heat embossed using the Pewter Powder ( a definite favourite!!) I cut out the gramophone horn and mounted it up slightly with dimensionals. The image fits well into the 21/2" circle punch. I used the clockworks background stamps to lay down a bit of colour on a scrap of Very Vanilla onto which I stamped the sentiment. It needed a bit of a lift so I ran the bottle top through the Bigshot to flatten it out.(Sadly they are now retired, but they were in the Summer Mini last year and I think they are perfect for male cards). I used a few strips of some Modern Medley DSP and layered the black image on a square of Very Vanilla 6cm x6cm. The cardstock is Night of Navy to give a deep contrast and I have used lots of the sticker embellishments to decorate- so easy. The Clock is stamped in Soft Suede but has shimmer mist paint daubed over the face for an aged patina. The buttons are from the regals set and seem to match even though they are technically different colours, and they are stitched on with Hemp thread (now retired).  The ribbon slider has a masculine feel to it and works well with the natural ribbon. For this Clockworks version I masked a strip with 2 pieces of plain paper and repeatedly stamped the clock, masking each watch shape so that they appear to overlap. I used the Stamp-a-Ma-jig to align the clock faces and hands.  The cogs and background stamps were used in Pool Party ink to fill the spaces. The remainder of the stamping was with the Woodgrain background stamp and the gorgeous script and splodges from French Foliage ( a favourite go-to set) The background is the Early Espresso Coredinations cardstock which is so easy to distress. I love it The feature watch also has a white embossed clock face which is sponged using emboss resist to make the numerals really stand out. This piece is raised on dimensionals. Text uses the "live in the sunshine" stamp from the Pursuit of Happiness set, and I have stamped the word moment using the cog from Clockworks, and one of the now retired alphabet sets. hope you can get some inspiration from this set too. have been playing with the great Clockworks set and have come up with a few different looks. i love the handy background stamps as they are easy to create a variety of looks with only one colour or can make a good cover using 2 or more dfferent shades.  The clockface is easy to use. i have experiemented with different options. My favourite is to emboss the numbers with white embossing powder then emboss resist sponge the face with Sahara Sand. Lastly I stamped the Watch case and embossed this with the Close to cocoa powder before cutting out the watch and attaching it with dimensionals. i have stamped the hands onto a scrap of double layer cardstock and cut them out also. For several of the watchfaces I have sponged first then added some shimmer paint using a sponge dauber. I also like the clockface sponged in a bright colour like Calypso Coral. For one of the clocks i have stamped onto Vellum Cardstock and cut out the face, either the full face or as a ring. Using...
