Bokeh Dots and Dandelions

I have had such a lot of fun playing with the new Bokeh Dots Background Stamp. It is not as large as the other background stamps in the catalogue and some demonstrators are disappointed by this but I quite like the size - It makes a good background for a focal point on a card and I was inspired by a dandelion Wishes card I saw on Facebook so I have CASE'd xxxx. I used the Stamparatus and it was fabulous for this card. I found I needed a few layers of ink to get a strong bokeh look and the Stamparatus is perfect for this technique. You can apply multiple layers of ink and because the image stamps in exactly the same spot every time you don't end up with a ruined image, you just get deeper and more intense layers of colour. Some demonstrators advise that an inkpad which is too wet will not give a good result so you may want to experiment for yourself. I liked the monotone stamping, but I then stepped it up with a background of DSP for the second version. This is Pool Pa...

Welcome for Heidi - GDP#003

Well it's quite provident that this week's challenge at Global Design Project is BABIES!  (GDP#003) as I have a special baby card for some friends who have had a long and anxious wait. And she arrived this week safe and sound so this card is to welcome Heidi Maree. It is a folding card with a concertina of tags which I have made before for Father's Day (Accordion Tag Fold card)  and you can find the instructions here . It is a little hard to photograph so this is a picture heavy post, I hope you get the idea. I wanted something bright and cheerful so I have used a retired colour - the bright and lovely Pretty in Pink which tones beautifully with Strawberry Slush (also retired), and I have kept it to a monotone with only a few touches of silver. The retired set Hello Love has such sweet images, and it was a great opportunity to use the Alphabet Rotary Stamp to make this truly personal with her name and birthdate. The four different tags are a great canvas to...

Lighthearted Leaves Diorama

Today's class was a fancy fold -another Diorama with the same dimensions as those previously pictured recently. (You can find them here  and here ) I love the Lighthearted Leaves set and have used gold heat embossing on a pale green (Pistachio Pudding here, but Mint Macaroon would work too) and some gold glimmer paper and gold ribbon on Crumb Cake card. (didn't quite get it published before the Just a Add Ink challenge to Just add Glimmer.....) The card is 10 1/2 " long scored at 31/2", 61/2", 7", and 10". You can alter the width to suit your needs, these are cut at 43/4 to fit into the notecard envelopes.  Add caption and an alternative... Stamps include Petite Pairs and Lighthearted Leaves, and A Whole Lot of Lovely. Thanks for looking, Liz Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Crazy for you colourful thankyou

Following on from the trifold card I made for the CTC challenge last week this was the card we made at class on the weekend.  ( you can see the original -brown/blue/green version here ) . The card base is 10.5cm x 26cm , scored at 10 and 20.5 cm. Emboss the 10cm flap with a folder of your choice - the brick wall looks great as does the wildflower meadow or the Lovely Lace . The flowers are stamped using the baby wipe technique  and the flower image from Crazy About You, and punched out with the scallop circle punch.  They are adhered along the edge of the 6cm flap to give an uneven edge. I then lightly sponged over the raised  embossing. I picked up some of the ink from the baby wipe and lightly finger walked the Dictionary stamp over the narrow flap. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and punched out with the 1" circle and the backing circle is punched with 1 1/4" punch from a spare flower.  I'm not normally an orange girl but these appeal to me!...

CTC#41 Everyday section - so much to choose from

Spoilt for choice for inspiration this week! Welcome to the bloghop for CASEing the Catty - using the EVERYDAY section of the catalogue for inspiration. You will have arrived here from the fabulous Rebecca , I know you will have seen some amazing inspiration so for, and you can go right around the circle if this is your first stop . For my inspiration I used the white grateful card on page 87. I used the beautiful leaf image from  World of Dreams  to cover the lefthand flap of the card and then fussy cut around the edges. I do love the Brick Wall embossing folder.  To make the small white flowers stand out I punched them out of Shimmery White card with the Itty Bitty Accents flower punch . The sentiment is one of the handy ones from All Boxed Up. I used the fine metallic silver thread as a highlight and some silver rhinestones. ( the silver peg is only to hold it closed for the photo) Of course I couldn't stop at one colour! So I tried the Summer S...

Butterfly thinlits so Beautiful to use

The first of my card classes for this year will be next weekend, and after wondering where to start I think a butterfly theme is calling me.  So this is a sample of the type of thing we will be making. 19/02 Edit to post. Well I'm so amazed but this card has been on the Leaderboard on Stampin Connection and was the top sample for a while. I am touched. And after requests for details I am adding those here. The card base is Soft Sky , as is the ring which I cut using 2 different sizes of the Circles Thinlits . The layers of Cardstock are Sahara Sand and Naturals White. I stamped images on the Naturals White  Cardstock first using Soft Sky and Sahara Sand from the Kinda Eclectic set, and also with the Dictionary background stamp. I then ran this piece through the big shot using the Lovely Lace Embossing folde r ( which I love).  Using the butterflies thinlits I cut the lacy butterfly from Sahara Sand and sponged the edges of this using soft sky, (and I thi...

JAI #212, Ex Libris Tucked flap Card in Coastal Cabana

Some days it takes for ever to get things together.... I have been planning to make one of these cards for ages but despite it looking relatively simple thanks to Natasha Schwecke's fabulous instructions it just didn't come together easily for me today. So after 4 attempts this is where I stopped! (still not 100% happy with it…) I used the Circle Framelits and the Petite Petals stamp set and Punch , and the beautiful Ex Libris stamp for the background. The Brown Sugar base is textured using a sharp blade run along the edges, and I have used the Everything Eleanor swirl on top which is heat embossed with White Powder. Everything had glitter applied to it today - some days you need to add sparkle, so the butterfly was the obvious choice! The Papillon Potpourri  butterfly was coloured using the Blender Pen and Brown Sugar and Coastal Cabana inks. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs .  Natasha's instructions are on Stampin connection and she doesn't appear to have a ...

Flower Shop Thinking of You Cards

have been having fun with the Flower Shop Set and matching Pansy Punch. So easy to creat a quick set of cards. I pilled out my brights set of stamps and used Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo. Also used the First Edition DSP - and stamped some Gorgeous Grunge on the background pieces (not very good photography), then some strips of the beautiful Black and Vanilla Modern Medley, and a few sequins or candy dots to finish. I have had the Thinking of You sentiment for a long time but it is currently availalbe as part of the "Wetlands" set. The second set is similar but uses Petite Pairs as the sentiments and the Artisan Label Punch for the label. I love the magazine holder style of card box and often make these as a presentation box for sets of cards. Thanks for looking, Liz
