CTC#127 Favourite Retired Item - how does one choose?

Welcome back for another round of CTC. This week we are saying a sad  Farewell to some Retiring Products. It's such a long list of lovely items leaving us this year so it was hard to pick a favourite. So I have combined a few of my favourite things. Penned and Painted has to be one of my favourite sets in the catalogue -it's just so easy to use and so versatile. So this week I went back to the catalogue to refresh my memories of how they have used the set and I CASE'd a few of their ideas. I like the ribbon treatment as a loop under the embellishment, I also like the simplicity of each card, and I liked the block of colour made up using the row of dots stamp so that was my inspiration. My favourite colour has to be MINT MACARON , so sad that it is leaving as it's so soft and versatile. So I have used the ink, some ribbon, some of the gorgeous mini striped ribbon too.  Tin of Cards is another set I will really miss, and Kraft cardstock will also be a...

CTC#118 Quick and Easy cards

Welcome back for another week at CASEing the Catty. Since I'm a bit time poor at present I flicked through the Catalogue for some quick and easy cards this week. I liked the bright and simple cards on page 34 so was happy to have a play with that layout.  I also wanted to use the opportunity to play with the lovely Make a Medallion set which is only available for the next few weeks of Sale a Bration. Since it's a circle shape it fits nicely with the layout. Cutting up some DSP is always a little hard until you actually make the slice but I pushed myself to do just that. I do love Mint Macarron and I'll be very sad when it retires this year, so cutting into a full sheet was a challenge for me.  this week CTC#118 is taking inspiration from pages 32-45 of the Occasions Catalogue Here's the layout in the strawberry paper. I used a mix of different DSP strips as the accent and layered the circe sentiment in a few different ways. I also had fun pl...

Baby Bella turns 1- Celebrating with a sneak peak

My beautiful friends' little girl is turning one and today was her Baptism and big party. In honour of this gorgeous girl I made her a little birthday present. It certainly was a joyful celebration despite the heat. Here is a picture of it all wrapped up. I love how easy it is to coordinate everything! I was inspired to use the colour combination from Global Design Project #061 and I'm also entering the Stamping Up Only Challenge  #161  this week which is for celebrations! There's lots of new products in this post including the fabulous new Stitched Shapes Framelits! These are so wonderful- 12 in a set and circles, ovals and squares I was very excited when my box of new goodies arrived and I have a few sneak peaks here for you. The birthday card is made using the fabulous new framelits for a pop up birthday card. These will be available from January 4 unless you are a demonstrator in which case you can preorder from December 1-  another great benefit of be...

Special Window birthday with Pals Paper Arts Colours#313

The new in colours are so pretty and the colour challenge at PPA this week is just perfect for a special birthday card I need for today. I have made another magic window card and will post a tutorial with the CASEing the Catty card this Sunday (August 14). I have made lots of these in the past and you can see some more samples here. The card is closed with a belly band and as you open the card the sliding mechanism opens to reveal the message in the window. Detail of the cluster on the belly band. As you open the gate fold The little cluster of flowers is made using swirly bird, and the leaf spray is fussy cut from the DSP sheet from the Fruit Stand collection. The sliding mechanism slowly opening. I coloured the White glimmer paper numbers using a sponge dauber and the Flirty Flamingo ink. The numbers are cut using the now retired Bigz Die and worked well for this card as they are much finer than the big numbers framelits- and 50 years de...
