CTC#31 " Father's Day"

Hello and welcome to the CTC blog hop. This week we are drawing inspiration from the Father's Day section of the occasions catalogue. Masculine cards are always a bit of a challenge, and this task was certainlytricky. The Guy Greetings stamp set has some terrific images and sentiments in it but I wanted to go a little deeper than just the set. The masculine paper stack looks like it holds lots of possibilities too but I don't own it -yet.
So I focused on the card

I'm not a huge fan of orange but I do love Cherry Cobbler or Real Red and Early Espresso together, and I love the stitching around the edge. I don't do a lot of sewing these days and this card reminded me why- even with a small distance the bobbin ran out half way through!!

I wanted the shoes in the tag to be shiny (like patent spats) but I found the embossing powder wasn't fine enough, and the shoes in Red just looked wrong so in the end I stamped the shoes in Early Espresso, then re stamped the image with versamark and heat embossed with clear powder over the top. My Stamp-a-Ma-jig was invaluable.

And of course the inside- ( you can even see that pesky bobbin thread  is in two colours )

A wise friend taught me early in my stamping addiction that it makes good sense to make 2 cards at once while you have the ink and paper out so this is the second version which I have had in the back of my head ever since I saw the stamp set. ( I think it's actually my fave - reminds me of a record set of my mums which we played with as kids, complete with cha cha cha and foxtrot instructions!)

Thanks for looking, and enjoy the hop around all the CASEing the Catty design team. You can see the next blog here on Stasia's blog,

  1. Very nice use of the shoes stamp. Good on you for sewing on the cards, and the dance diagram is too clever.

  3. Thanks so much Rachel and Alison, I have great memories of trying to teach myself the dances from Mum's old records which came as a big set of learn to dance music and pictures. She probably would have been horrified that we also found the old records excellent to use as skates because they were so slippery!hehe

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car

#Onstage Sydney 2022 Fancy Flora Suite , Display Stamping # 1 beginner, casual, avid samples

I'm so honoured to have been asked to present the premier suite "Fancy Flora" from the new Mini Catalogue - what a treat. ( Available January 5 - May 12023 ). This is one of a series of posts showing some of the projects I created using this suite. It's a long one so grab a cuppa and enjoy my tips and tricks and first projects. Relieved the presentation is over and with my samples on the board! Firstly I had the pleasure of showing the suite- 2 stampsets, 2 sets of dies, some 6x6 DSP, Shimmer Card, Ribbon and Gems. With every new set I allow myself plenty of time to just play with it and explore the possibilities in colour and layout. In doing this I create a series of Mood boards that make it much faster when I come to use the product to quickly identify how many dies in each set, how many stamps and which ones match the dies, and which ribbons and bling I have in my stash- or in the current catalogues that match the colours of the new suite. That way I don't for
