Vintage Leaves simple set of Notecards, JAI#296 Just adding Nature

I love the simplicity of the Vintage Leaves images and wanted to create some cards for my sons to have on hand. I am trying to convince them that sending a thankyou card is a good habit to get into.  Well any card really is a pleasure to recieve. So they had to be simple and unfussy.  I used the Crumb cake notecards and envelopes which are brilliant value and are also good because they are smaller than regular cards - don't want the boys to be put off by the thought of having to write too many words!
I am submitting these cards for the Just Add Ink Challenge #296 to Just Add Nature.

I did use the beautiful Shimmer Paper and some alcohol mixed with Artichoke ink and Gold Wink of Stella ink to get the water colour look for the background. And while I know Always Artichoke is not everyone's favourite colour I love it. They are all slightly different and have no sentiments so they are versatile.

I did also make a box for them to be stored in but I don't appear to have that photo.

Thanks for looking.

Liz

  2. Love the notes, and Artichoke ink is a great color on the Crumb Cake. I would like to ask what was your formula for the ink, alcohol and Wink of Stella if you don't mind sharing? Also how did you get the WoS in the mix?

  3. HI Carol, thanks for your kind comment. Sorry I don't really have a formula, but it was about half a mini mister filled with Isocol, a few drops of artichoke ink. i ma not taken with the WOS Gold as an accent unless it is on really dark coloured card, so I sort of didn't mind experimenting a bit with the pen. I just squeezed it a lot until a few drops came out, but it did make a big mess, so while it sort of worked I need to experiment a bit more, (and the pen doesn't work quite the way it didi) I think I did end up spraying some onto a silicone sheet and sort of smooshing it onto the paper- the shimmer paper works best for this. Hope that helps. It's not as good as the Shimmer Paint which we used to have- loved that and wish they would bring it back.

  4. Liz, your collection of note cards is gorgeous! Love the watercoloured backgrounds, and the detail in the leaves. Let's hope these go in the post, especially since not too many words need to be written *wink*. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week. x

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are.
