I love the inspiration challenges at Just Add Ink, but sadly I've not had much time to participate this year, so I'm really glad to be able to join in this week.
It's a gorgeous inspiration
I totally love the natural elements and colours in this photo- and who doesn't Love brown paper packages tied up with string as one of their favourite things.
I regularly create journals for the markets and they are often personalised using bits of old music, old text, wine journals , study notes etc but this one is much simpler.
My advertising sign at the market says
"Empty Journal seeks creative genius
for casual fling"
or
"empty journal seeks creative mind for meaningful relationship"
I have covered a lined journal using some of the crisp green and white striped DSP from the new Sweet Soiree Specialty pack. The journal has a beautiful neutral base which makes the decorative elements stand out.
The beautiful sentiment panel is one of the cards from the new Petal Passion Memories and More pack. The other decorative elements are all die cut using various sets- Petals and More Thinlits, Bouquet Bunch Framelits, Birds and Blooms Thinlits, and of course the Musical Instruments Framelits. The only non Stampin' Up! element is the old lace and the small pieces of tissue paper.
All the elements are bonded in layers to the base using Modge Podge which gives it a nice sturdy cover.
What I did love creating this journal is that now that Stampin' Up! has produced the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers I was able to come in and apply small amounts of colour after the Modge Podge had dried- I'm so happy with how the blue colouring on the bird, and a little more Crumb Cake on there has made such a difference. And you may not notice but there's the tiniest hint of colour on the white flowers.
Add in some washi tape in black and narrow silver, and some Linen thread and one of the cute new charms from the Petal Passion Embellishments pack and your journal is good to go.
