Split Front Card using Flights of Fancy beautiful bird.

I have been using the Split Front Card design quite a bit lately and I love how simple it is.

This sample is one we made at Card Classes recently and uses some of the beautiful papers from Sale-a-Bration. I love the birds from the Flight of Fancy papers. The inside is decorated using the Notes of Nature stampset, and the leaves are also cut using those dies.

You can use any measurements that work for you but this is how I do it.

This is a top folding card which fits in a standard C6 envelope.

Cut one piece of Cardstock 10.5cm x 18.5cm, trim a piece 4cm from one end and score at 14.5cm ( slightly smaller than conventional 14.8cm, but easier maths )

Cut two pieces of DSP to sit neatly in the two top and bottom panels of the card front - 10.2 x 3.7cm  ( 4" x 1" - great dimensions to neatly cut a 12x12 piece of DSP )

Diecut a large piece to be the card front and create the bridge between the top and bottom panel. Also cut a second piece in basic white the same size for the inside where you will write your message. This will be hidden when the card is closed.

Ideal shapes for the card front are around 7cm x 11cm, for example:

-the second largest die from the Colour and Contour dies

-the second largest die from the Deckled Edges

-the second largest die from the Countryside Corners

-or just a rectangle, or any other shape that works.

Decorate this panel with whatever you choose. Then place dimensionals at the top and bottom edges of the back of this piece.

Here you can see the front panel finished, and the stamping for the inside piece which is the same size. I love how easy the collage stamping works with the Notes of Nature set.

Burnish the centre fold of the card base. Orientate your card sitting vertical and position the lower 10.5 x 4cm panel where it will be when the card is finished -flush with the lower edge of the cardbase. You can hold this in place with a paperclip or post it note. Remove the backing from the dimensionals along the top edge of the centre panel and adhere adhere these first. Check everything is straight and then fix the bottom edge to the lower card front piece.

Decorate the writing panel for the inside as desired. It will be hidden when the card is closed. To position easily open the card and lay it face down. Place the inside writing panel face down over its matching card front piece, put adhesive on the back of this piece and close the card base over. It will be in the perfect spot.

Alternative insides using Artistically Inked and Notes of Nature. They are both great sets for creating texture and interest.

The inside adhered in place. ( this is a different version of the inside from above- I have repeated this card with lots of stampsets )

A few more alternative insides using the deckled rectangles instead of the countryside corners.

I'll have some more samples from class soon, so check back for those.
I hope you can see how versatile this card is and you give it a try.

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. Funky Folds Blog Hop= a Bay window card using Country Flowers

Well it's been a very long time since I participated in a blog hop - and it feels good to be participating in a FUNKY FOLDS hop. You may have come from Jan McQueen's creation, or you may be starting here. Be sure and hop all the way around. I do love Fancy Fold cards and of course with a new catalogue and new products it is fun to be creating again. I have a big weekend retreat coming up in a few weeks and we are using the Country Flowers Stamp set so I am creating a swag of samples. Since time is such a precious commodity for all of us I am using some old favourite folds with new products - a whole new lease on life. For this week's hop I am revisiting the Bay Window Card. The front tri-panel piece bends forward and tucks in behind the little anchor which is fixed to the inside. Your card will stand up unaided. This is it with the edge tucked under the anchor. You can find the measurements and instructions and several previous samples on these pages. Today's card featu...

500 challenges at CASEing the Catty ' - how fantastic to be involved

What an honour to be invited back to join with the Caseing the Catty team for their 500th challenge! Thankyou Bec for thinking of me. I started with the CTC crew way back at the beginning and I still go to the catalogue as a ready reference for creative ideas. The earliest post I can find is 2014 - CTC#3! 10 years of crafting along, that's pretty amazing. For this challenge it was completely open to choose any project to  CASE from either the annual or the Christmas mini catalogue. There are lots of projects in there that spark a creative journey for me and I did have a hard time choosing. In the end I opted for something simple since none of us have much free time at this hectic time of year. To make things a tad more difficult I have covid so feeling pretty low on energy. Lucky that crafting is a relaxing pastime and I can sit at my craft desk without be scolded too much by my loving DH that I need to be resting! For my projects I have created a Christmas Card and a matching Gift...
